Noise at idle

Hi all,
I have noticed a developing noise at idle. It can best be described as similar to a failing heater fan noise. I have had plenty of classic cars with this noise.
It’s there at idle but with a little rev it goes but comes back at idle. It is a automatic with 60k on it. It happens in gear and if I put it into N it sometimes goes away. As soon as I move off it’s gone until next time I stop.
It was quieter than it is now.

Any ideas

I'm not sure what a failing heater fan sounds like, can you describe it a little more?
