My car stalled while driving and would not start back

Luckily I was in my neighborhood and walked back home. I had it towed to the dealership. They said it was the crank shaft sensor. Would this make the car stall after it is running? Once it stalled it would not crank back up. The engine was turning over like it wanted to start.

I thought the engine may of seized because my oil is low when I checked it at the dealership. The car was making a sewing machine noise for about a minute after I first started it. Guessing that was due to the oil level being low. Apparently I need to check the oil more often than I do with this car.

They are replacing that and changing the oil. Hopefully that will fix it. BUT they mentioned they have to replace that and get it running to make sure nothing else is wrong.
This is 2nd time I had to be towed. First was the Clutch Slave Cylinder that went out while driving down the road. Ugh.

If the engine still turns over you didn’t seize it. A crankshaft sensor will cause the problems you described. I’m willing to bet that’s the problem if Nissan said it was. If your not confident you can always rent a scan tool and read the code.

Thanks. I do believe them. I just hope once they fix that, there is nothing else wrong. 😁

They got car running after replacing crankshaft position sensor.......But something else is wrong. I think he said intake solenoid? Or something along that line...Maybe he said the wrong term....Like $2k-3k is all I remember. 😅. He did say he is going to get it replaced under drivetrain warranty. Any idea what part of an intake would cost so damn much?

It was the Camshaft Intake Sprocket. Apparently lots of labor involved. Over $2k to replace they said. I got it covered under warranty though thankfully.

Did they say what caused it to go bad ???

No. But I believe that was the ticking noise I was hearing when first starting the car. It went away after a few minutes. The car was low on oil which is 100% my fault for not checking it frequently enough. My guess is that had a lot to do with it. The day before it died while driving I noticed I was in 3rd gear at low RPM and it felt like the car jerked a little. Like it hesitated is the best explanation. I had them change the oil and they put some type of sedative in. My invoice says "BG Oil Kit". The car drives great now. Feels like it has more power.....buy that could be because I was in a Nissan Frontier for a week. Lol. 😁
