Vibration after bushing and vlsd install
 
:mad: :mad :mad: I've been having vibrations ever since I installed the sport vlsd and whiteline diff bushings onto my base. I've been searching around for the reason and it's leading me too a possible loose driveshaft bolt or axle bolt? But a lot of those posts state their problems are speed dependent.. mine seems like it's rpm dependent. Between 1250-2250. I installed it on Sunday. Does anyone have any idea? :(

RPM dependant doesn't really make any sense for something that would be affected by a diff install.... Curious.

OT: Did you get the SPC arms in time for your suspension install?

Ok so you say it's RPM dependent. You have a 6mt I see, so is it still there in neutral?

The tailshaft is spigoted onto the flange on the nose of the diff.

Did you ensure there was no cr4p between the tailshaft flange and diff flange and they pulled down square.

Even a little bit of cr4p between the flanges will result in a vibration.

The other thing is whether all the bushes for diff mountings are snug - I dont recall whether there is a steel insert inside poly bush itself or not - if that was omitted and the diff can move on the bolt, you will get a clunk rather than a vibration though.

If have these and it certainly is noisier (a lot).

That is tailshaft side, driveshafts should also be snug and have no movement.

First things first, re-check all fasteners that were touched as first item of business

Update: turns out my driver side exhaust tip was firmly pressed onto my bumper. Didn't melt my bumper but the vibrations pretty much sanded down the contact area down to the plastic. Messed with the hangers and got the exhaust to hang freely. All vibrations went away. Now I'm left with the normal noise associated with upgraded bushings and not some horrifying vibration :)

That's the first thing I did! Flanges sit square and flat and the fasteners have not loosened. Turns out it was my exhaust digging into my bumper :(

lol I was just about to come in here and suggest it was probably exhaust related since it was tied to RPM. Glad you figured it out!
