Oil analysis

Using motul eco-nergy

Very nice!

Very nice results indeed! What brand motor oil and oil filter are you using? What are your oil change intervals?

Elmo370z 07-16-2017 06:29 AM

The last one was with motul eco-nergy, using the synthetic dram oil filter. I usually change around 2,500-3,500 miles mostly because my car just sit.

Overall Motul is great motor oil for import vehicles. The best independent and factory tests for motor oil analysis I have ever seen was Amsoil synthetic motor oil and the signature series and XL is really good as far as results go. When your vehicle sits for a long period of time it is bad for motor oil. It makes motor oil deteriorate and oxidize faster hence you should change it sooner every 2500-3000 is a good time to change it than. I would choose a good oil filter that uses synthetic media inside it as it filters the contaminates in your motor oil. Oil changes are detrimental to the life of your VQ engine. I did my share of research on motor oil and what would be the best choice for motor oil to use in my 370Z.

I use a oil filter made for synthetic. The test showed, I still a fair amount of additives still present in the oil. I'll
Post it back up in a few, just wanted to scratch my personal info off

I usually change the oil around 2,500 miles or 6 months. I've used amsoil dominator racing oil. Once I go racing again I'll compare the motul to the amsoil. I don't know if you see it, but the comment on elevated aluminum was with amsoil during a couple track days.

Anyone tried out the new Rotella T6 5W-30 yet? I'm going to be trying it out and sending samples to Blackstone in the spring

Yes previously T6 was 5W-40 weight and geared towards primarily diesel use. Apparently a lot of customers (including myself) loved the protection of T6 but wanted oil to use in their gasoline engines requiring 5w30 so they came out with T6 in 5w30 weight. I was on the fence about using 5w40 in my engine being almost brand new and such a high revving engine.

In for the amsoil results, thinking about making the switch from motul mostly for convenience (friends a dealer)
