Thanks! I really appreciate it :) Finished the intercooler piping for both sides and finally got the steering rack spacers and it finally fits now. I might need to get ones that are wider so they don't break under load. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c43d4753b1.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e4fc547b41.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...7bf311a1b3.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a0131ff30d.jpg Any suggestions for bov location? First time it's been out of the garage since January! Forgot how low this thing is!

Thanks! Unfortunately it's back in as AAA screwed me over with the towing to a nearby muffler shop :/ so I'm going to have to tow it tomorrow morning before work.

Sorry for the lack of updates! So the car was towed to a nearby fabrication/drag racing shop and they are currently doing the downpipes. They couldnt find the Nissan flanges so i had to overnight them from Z1.
Hoping that they finish the exhaust tomorrow so i can start it and hear it with a full exhaust on! My tuner is coming to my house to install the base tune so i can drive it to their shop next week. Hopefully everything goes well Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Sweet! Been lurking this thread for a while...can't wait to see this beast coming alive!

awesome my friend! I hope everything works perfect!

Thanks guys! I just decided to drive to Traverse city to have some time off today and the shop texted me that the downpipes are done!

Thanks guys! I checked it out today and it looks perfect! very thick stainless steel and perfect welds.
As of now I'm way over my budget so he recommended I just use ducting for the turbo inlet so I can route it somewhere cold for now. he's welding my bov flanges as soon as they come in either Friday or Thursday. Hopefully I'll have it back home this weekend! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Coming along soo nicely. Can't wait for the end product.

Haha it's not easy at all! It's been stressing me out so much but it's good that it's almost finished.
Showing you guys something I bought from a gtr owner. I was looking for BOV's and everything was out of my budget, so I decided to just buy the stock gtr recirculating valves on eBay for approx $150 shipped. While I was doing that I found this on the GTR forums. Got everything in the picture for $180 shipped! Will be selling everything else on eBay soon. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...26289d18a7.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Anyone want to start a pool on how long it will be before it says "forum sponsor" under husam's userID?

Finally got the car back. The inlets are done, BOV's done and downpipes done with o2 bungs which I initially forgot about!
Going to work on the car a little today as soon as I get motivated after this happened.. my girlfriend closed the garage door and the car was under the door. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...cad1248f93.jpg Unfortunately I don't have any money left for body work, so it will have to stay like that for a while. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...981f15aae2.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Just tell everyone you backed into a guardrail going 120.

Unfortunately (or fortunately?) the rear of this car is all anyone will see after you complete this build ;)

Haha a car isn't worth losing my girlfriend over! I guess it's time for the Nismo rear end, but that's probably not until 2018.
I worked all afternoon on it today, got the alternator back on and tightened the intercooler piping clamps. I also got the driver side inlet done. Just need to somehow tighten that darn clamp. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...fdd2662969.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Sooo close now. Your gonna being passing people by so fast now they won't even have time to see the scratched bumper lol
|
Downpipes finished this morning! I started it up and filled it up with coolant and no leaks so far. I honestly expected it to be louder but it's pretty quiet! Ordering the inlet filters tonight and hopefully will be getting my base tune soon. :)
Sorry for the snapchat video. I was too lazy to record another one. https://youtu.be/NWvPqZy2AaA |

Truth, I remember when I started my focus ST with just the down pipe it was super quiet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Thank you guys! I will be sticking with this exhaust for a bit until I can afford doing a GT-R style exhaust.
I have the whole driver side wrapped up except connecting the BOVs to the manifold. I was wondering if it's possible to just tap the brake booster hose instead of having to drill the manifold? If anybody knows let me know please! Only thing left aside from BOVs/installing the fuel pump is this. I just need to connect them together. I think I'm too lazy to figure it out slowly so I'll just have the shop do it Monday for me. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3dc180a4c1.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
There is a vacuum port for the EVAP system right behind each throttle body flange on the intake manifold. On each side is a short 90 degree vacuum hose connecting the EVAP pipe to just behind the throttle flange. I remove the 90 degree hose and install a T fitting with a couple 1" long sections of hose. The straight run leg of the T left open, I send to each BOV. Years of testing, works perfect.

Only major thing to do is to install the 340 fuel pump and the wiring kit bought from you :) |

I agree! Thank you phunk for this idea as it saved me a lot time :) https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...108f8014f2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...854e51e0f0.jpg Still waiting for the tuner. He tunes GTRs and his license didn't work for my Z so he has to buy the 370z license. Hoping that happens ASAP so I can drive the darn car! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
GT-R turbos on the VQ37
I just wanted to post this separately. I've been struggling with the steering rack spacers as doing it like GTM makes it so one of the downpipe bolts wouldn't fit due to the tiny clearance left.
I've discovered that Fast Intention's kit also uses rack spacers, but they are at an angle so there's more clearance for the turbos. Obviously they aren't willing to just give me these spacers so i have to figure it out for myself. The problem is, the rack doesn't like being angled at all. (It either going on straight or angled the wrong way) https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...076b89bae5.jpg I could technically finish using the regular flat spacers but then i would have one missing bolt on the driver downpipe and i don't like doing things halfassed. Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks guys. |
