VVEL problem HELP**

(update) Fixed, ended up being bad vvel control module and bad sensor connectors from the diag

I'm no mechanic but i do work on low voltage stuff often. I'd say from your description, you have some bad wires. I know you have run continuity test but in my experience, continuity doesn't always mean the wire is good. You've already diagnosed a voltage issue. Grab some wire length, and run a hot drop, direct from ecu to vvel, bypassing the wiring harness.

Sounds like a broken wire in the wiring harness causing intermittent issues.

I'm with lj909: sounds like a wiring problem, a continuity check is not always a good indicator of wiring condition, and a temporary "bypass" should tell you if wiring is the problem.

Continuity for sensor readings generally doesn't mean jack. Really only good for checking CAN loops. I'll have to look at the FSM at home and not on my phone but if you have a state of no change and the code is immediate then to me that indicates you have an open or short. Check live voltages with everything connected by either back probing or wire tap is going to give you what your actual PCM is seeing.

So dumb question but did you do the position adjustment procedure when you swapped the sensors? The physical position will change the output of the sensor. Also try doing the continuity checks while moving the wiring to see if it is intermittent.

-i have done position adjustment procedure multiple times
-as for runing a wire i feel it will not solve anything either as i belive the problem is the VVEL control module is not sending the voltage to those terminals for what ever reason, (Connector e15, terminal 3 and 5) i have check for voltage directly off the module at those terminals. and nothing. For some reason something is telling the module to not send the voltage it needs to. "i have tried a new module"

When you checked continuity, was your meter on the continuity setting or resistance setting. I've seen on multiple occasions where the continuity setting says good but when you check resistance you'll find 100 ohms or more. This is even with high quality Fluke multimeters.

I had the same issue and used this thread to troubleshoot. I changed fuses, relays and last the vvel module and this worked for 3 weeks. Then the issue occurred again. I tried swapping back the old vvel module, nothing. I tried then without any vvel module installed to see if I get any different codes. Nothing.
Then I put everything back together and gently pulled the ECU cables with are inside the cabin on the passenger side. Turned on and then cleared the che k engine light. Drove around for a bit, turned on and off several times. That seems to resolve the issue. Then I proceeded with inspecting the plugs of the primary ecu. No issues. This has resolved my issue with the p1606.

I find it strange, because no one ever sits on the passenger side, maybe something was loose.
