Coolant?

So the blue coolant we run in our Z's from the factory is considered the best their is. That I know, but I'm looking to do something kind of different and want to know if there is any real reason to switch over to Toyota Red coolant? Not sure if any one as any real coolant experience that can enlighten me to the pros and cons and each, or even if there is a reason the Red coolant would jack up our cooling system. As always thanks for your help in advance. This sight is always a wealth of information.

Any particular reason?

I'm getting a glass back lit heater hose and being everything else under the hood is dressed in red I thought doing that in red as well would look awesome, just don't want to lose any performance over the look.

For a DD, I don't think your going to find enough differences in OEM coolants to warrant switching - stick with what's already in there. With all the "weird" chemicals in coolants nowadays, some are incompatible.

If you are racing, there are several threads on coolant already. I use one of the major search engines and add "site:the370z.com" to my search string. Eg, coolant antifreeze site:the370z.com.

I had good info on this and I'll see if I can find it but from what I remember most if not all the Japanese will be fairly similar. It mainly comes down to what water they were intended to work with and how they react with the minerals in the water. Since Japanese coolant come pre mixed and are designed for the water in Japan (I forget if they were low mineral content or high mineral content vs euro, USA) and the same seal materials used to work with that content then they should be fairly compatible.
