Car won't turn on or off
2012 370Z Nismo 6MT with a very odd issue.
I'm in the middle of a TT install, but the car started up successfully last week. Then I spent the week trying to get the lower joint coupler on the lower steering shaft and the front suspension back together. Today, I go to turn the car on and it cranks but doesn't start. Also, I noticed that I didn't hear this fuel pump priming or gauges turn on. Lastly, I can't turn the car off. The light stays lit on the 'ON'. I gotta pull the negative terminal to turn it off so to speak. Here's what I've tried
Now, I'm just trying to get car ON so I can read codes with Ecutek. No luck. Everything results in same behavior. Car doesn't turn on, shows signs of dead battery. (Fuel pump not priming, gauges not turning on) Can't turn off car. Have to pull negative terminal. I've googled around can't find anything. I thought maybe steering lock but the ignition light isn't on LOCK. Attached are the lights I see. http://i64.tinypic.com/16k5ds0.jpg |
You may have knocked the antenna that receives the fob signal in the console loose.
Try the fob in the fobgina. |

Additionally, my physical key isn't locking or unlocking the car.

If nobody comes up with an answer, the FSM (link in my sig) has diagnostic procedures. |
I was able to pull these codes with Ecutek. Based on the FSM and one other thread it sounds like my ECM/BCM might be kaput..

Check CAN wiring/connectors. You may have knocked something loose or cut a wire during the TT install. Fix the U1000 problem and the rest will probably disappear.

Just read about this in a post from Zbakes:

I have a problem that resembles yours!
Hi squid--
I have almost the same problem and the dealer tried to give my 2014 370z back to me to say it didn't work. Could you please tell me what ended up being the problem with your car? Here's my post describing my problem: http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-w...ml#post3848470http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-w...ml#post3848470 I would really appreciate any clues to what's going on. Thanks |
