Fluid on battery

Red fluid on top of my battery and battery terminals. Any clues to what may have happened and what the fluid may be ? Thanks

Did you happen to get a new battery installed at a shop? The red fluid is just a protective coating to stop corrosion.

No I didn't . Was gone on vaca and safelite did a windshield repair, hit car start button but left in ACC mode so it shut down. Went to jump it and noticed all the fluid.

Thanks for the insight Dreadnaught. I done a few jumps before , maybe I just didn't notice it. Old age , I tell ya.

No problem. Even if the protective was sprayed on quite a while ago it will stay on the cables and post unless it's cleaned off.

All silicone for windshields are black as far as I have seen since I've been in the business.

sealant used was on opposite side, driver side. was just weird seeing so much of it. I thought something had burst.
