Engine will turn but won't start [SOLVED]

Driving home a couple minutes ago I just realized that the car wouldn't accelerate. I stop to look at it and my friend came over and I saw that the engine would try to start but the serpentine belt wouldn't move. Y'all know anything that could help? Thank you

Any codes?

None what so ever, that's what I find really weird

What does "try to start" mean?

If the serpentine belt is not moving that means that either:
1) the starter is not working properly (engine not turning)
2) the damper is broken (engine turning but not driving belt)
3) the belt is slipping
If it is 3, you should be able to see the damper turning.

Or worse yet, seized engine?

Well of that list 2 and 3 won't prevent it to start, don't need the zero belt to start the car and the crank sensor is on flywheel. So your looking at bad starter or seized engine.

Luckily it wasn't that, I was really worried for a second. Problem solved though! What was wrong was the idler pulley. The bearings inside were crushed and just warn out so it stoped it from spinning freely. Because of that, the friction between the serpentine belt and the idler pulley stoped it from moving. Thank God! It was an easy fix so I swapped it out and it's perfect now.

Wow that was one trashed idler. Drive with the radio on all the time and loud? It had to have been making noise for a while to get that bad. Glad it was something simple.
