370z 7A/T dyno with Stiller Gen3

Dyno Jet made 278 is that about right?

Seems a little low with the intake.

My baseline was 264 and it made 284 with the stillen intake.
its a 7 AT.

for just intakes about right, my stock 7spd was 265

BIGENRON 10-03-2016 07:07 PM

:iagree: with no tune.

20 rwhp a huge gain for a stock motor with just an intake. I get that it draws cooler air being outside of the engine compartment, but that effect will diminish once that car gets up to speed as cooler air would push through the openings into the OEM intake.

I suppose it would be more accurate in the dyno comparision if a fan is placed in front to simulate speed of 40 to 50 mph.

I've never seen a dyno without a fan in front of it to do just that.

nis350 10-04-2016 12:51 PM

yes, but that depends on whether it simulates the airflow at that speed.

Just briefly read some old posts by Jordo and he posted the following stats with his mods:

Bone stock = 219

+K&N panel filters = 222 (+1.5%)

+Test pipes = 232 (+4.5%)

+S-tune catback = 235 (+1.5%)

+HPS intake tubes = 238 (+1.5%)

+Tune = 244 (+2.5%)

Cumulative gain @5252 RPM from Bone stock = 25 (+11.5%)

So 20 RWHP gain with just the intake is quite amazing....

Yeah, but it's not 20 whp just from the intake. Unless it was re-dynoed on the same day, then you've got some weather/ temp variance there. Then, the dyno isn't dead on the same two runs in a row. Realistically, it's more like a 15 hp gain.

wanker 10-04-2016 03:13 PM

A claimed 20 hp gain with just the Stillen CAI is nonsense.

At best, the CAI will add around 6-7 hp.

nis350 10-04-2016 09:28 PM

that's exactly my thought.... And that's including the margin of errors on the dyno due to variables as stated on the other posts.
