7AT Loud Rattle/Knock at Idle when in Gear
Hi there
First off I have a 2009 Nissan 370Z 7AT with the upgraded transmission from GTM. When I'm in manual mode, in 1st gear waiting for a light (when the car is warm), I get a loud ticking/knock coming from the front bottom of the car. I believe my idle is around 700-800rpm when it is ticking. This use to only happen when stopped on an uphill but now it is more noticeable on flat ground. The knocking/ticking disappears whenever I give it throttle, or when the car is cold (with a higher rpm). The Car does not make this noise in Park, or anytime other than idle in 1st gear. Would it be possible that too low of an idle could cause a loud ticking/knocking? Just wondering if this is idle related (possible tune) or if I should be more worried about something in the transmission? Any help is appreciated Thanks |
LMAO dont worry everything is fine, the ticking notice that you hear are the heat shields on your cats. They lose heat in one place and heat up in another the different heat causes metal to make a ticking cracking sound.
