Does running large concentrations of ethanol in fuel cause the stock fuel pump hat to fail sooner?

I currently have no reason to believe that the material is compromised by ethanol. I ran mine in nothing but E85 for over 3 years since last inspection and the OEM plastic showed no degradation of that type. It just had the "lean" going showing that it had deformed the same as any higher mileage ones I have seen.

Several customers have been ordering their new top hat with a new fuel system simultaneously.

I snapped a photo the other day while packing up the in-tank portion of a fuel system, top hat, fuel pump combo that was ordered.

These new fuel systems are setup to harness the full potential of the pump. The fuel pump output heads directly out of the hat via an OEM quality convoluted PTFE hose, bypassing the post-pump filter and regulator housing, and out the hat via our custom bulkhead fitting. We put a large Aeromotive filter under the car and new PTFE lined feed lines up to the engine.

Doing so, now even our entry level return systems have 100% upgraded high flow feed, without a single inch of the factory plumbing being retained for the feed side.

The return fuel is coming back through the original factory feed pipe, which is why you see our custom QD adapter for the return bulkhead on this top hat. From there, return fuel flows through a 3/8" softline to the CJM regulator delete fittings, to keep the factory venturi system on-line.

This Aeromotive pump will be getting all the juice it needs through our large-terminal fuel-rated connector system.

Always great stuff Charles. I have been running your Stage 1 return fuel system for nearly 2 years and i am very interested in this piece but i wanted to ask what else i could upgrade to my Stage 1 since usually on your page you sell almost everything in packages and there are pieces that i would not need. Would the L2 Fuel Pump and Return Mod be a good addition? Which seems like it is the combination on the photo above. Thanks!

Our L2 level of fuel pump modifications involves bypassing the internal fuel filter and using a larger output and then the stock feed re-purposed as the return. So if you wanted to move up to that, we would need to also package you an upgrade kit to take you all the way to the new S1.E fuel system with external filter.

If you chose to do this, between what you already have, and the billet hat with L2 install kit, you would not need to actually purchase the standalone L2 fuel pump modification kit. To complete the conversion would mean adding our external filter kit, and the 2 new feed hoses (from fuel pump to filter, and filter to engine).

That would be awesome! I saw the external filter on your webpage but was asking myself how can i get that part to do some minor upgrades to my Stage 1 fuel system since you don't seem to have it as a standalone piece. You got my attention Charles.

I have sent out several upgrades for S1 to S1.E and S1.S to S1.SE the last couple months! Lots of guys wanted the external filter so that they could cut out the stock one to put in the big Walbro 450. That was the primary purpose for remodeling those kits: to get the external filter integrated in (that is the ".E" added to the system name) to all of the kits.

I will PM you an itemized list/quote of what you need to get all current and upgraded!

Good question, I havent added the install kit for the "legacy" S1 and S1-S fuel systems (L1 type return, stock output and -4 return bulkhead) to the website yet.

The install kit for that would be almost identical to L2 kit, except it just hooks up a little differently.

I also need to add the install kits for return systems with RRP. There are so many combinations that will have a small change! But I know now what needs to be done for each, I just have to get the all the options into the drop down menu.

I can put one together for you later today? If youd like PM or email me and I can get it squared away ASAP.

Thanks

Please do! if it makes any difference I'm also running a 340 in the fuel pump assembly instead of the OEM (Must've thrown it in the trash after the BP kit install)

I put together the installation kit today, and added it as an option on the website page!

PM sent also.

Thanks!

5 left in stock right now. Material for 50 more came in last week... it might be a few weeks more before I am able to cut them, but I am going to try to get them in ASAP.

Check out the before and after pics I got from a customer today who had to repair his module. He was running a totally stock fuel system and stock pump, so he used the "stock type" installation kit of course.

Hello, the top is not removable from the older pump housing! The older one is much more rigid to begin with and does not have a problem with coming apart.
