Increased NVH Above 5k RPM?

The motor seems super smooth up until about 5,000 rpm, but then you really start feeling vibrations and it sounds dirty almost. Is that an inherent characteristic of the VQVHR?

Yep. That's just how it sounds.

Intakes will help it sound better at high RPMs, not to mention give u a hp boost.

Yeah this motor is a little rough on the top end, at first you feel like maybe you're hurting it, but as long as it's not overheating, has the correct amount of oil, etc, you will be fine.

Get an ATI super damper. It helps smooth it out.

Perfect thanks for the quick responses. I'm planning on adding an oil cooler and DCI in the near future. I'll look into the ATI super damper.

Yes it is.

I noticed this too with my '16 Nismo. But, I did find that it depends on how much throttle I'm giving. If I'm at low throttle and let it get past 5000 rpm, it is a lot more harsh than at medium to WOT.

Mine seems to have become more quiet at high rpms as it's broken in. Over 60 k on her now and I don't hear that funky rattle over 7k any more. Either that or I got used to it. Broke her in old school, varying RPM, gentle with the throttle but not too gentle with the RPMs.
