Loud chatter noise?

So lately my car has been making noises...

clutch fully depressed and back up makes a grinding noise, came to a conclusion that it was a throw out bearing, and might have to change out the csc

clutch pressure was normal as always.

but now, i have a LARGE chatter noise (no more grinding)
whether the clutch is depressed out not. the more speed i pick up the more i hear the sound. makes the sound at idle as well.

it is not the typical dual mass chatter. but sounds like it lightly.

Same noise and conditions?
Read the comment on the video by Zspeed. it's the pilot bearing on the flywheel
I'll copy his comment for everyone on here:
"That is a pilot bushing noise for anyone looking at this, Throw out bearing would make noise anytime there is pressure applied to the pedal, Pilot bushing noise will come and go and "Groan" like this video."

I hope that helps

yeah, i had that same noise, but i stopped having that grind noise, and it turned into a constant clicking chatter noise. regardless in neutral or if clutch is pressed

Is the chatter more noticeable when the car is warm vs cold (i.e. louder)? If so, that is totally normal. The fluid thins as it heats up and doesn't dampen the clutch vibrations as well as when cold.

Mine chatters all the time with the stock clutch. I have plans to install a 14lb flywheel for that F250 diesel experience :icon17:

Yeah, the light flywheel will definitely make you wonder if your car is broken. :rofl2:

I'm not too sure, I'll find out later today driving more, but I did have a slight chatter in the past which was normal, but the chatter/clicking im getting now is REALLY loud. like i have engine knock.. but noise coming from the tranny, clicking seems to speed up with rpms.

Chuck33079 06-10-2016 08:14 AM

Any other issues with the tranny? Is the noise most noticeable taking off at low rpm?

I'm guessing that noise when taking off at low rpm in 1st gear is normal then? I get this but only when the outside temps are high and when the car has been driven for 30+ minutes or so. I always assumed it was just the flywheel rattling. Although I have a stock setup and it's weird for an OEM setup to rattle like that.

It's normal. When it's hot the lube is thinner and it rattles more. It's a noisy tranny. Nothing to worry about.

Trying to diagnose sounds via the written word is very difficult at best. If you can post a video or sound clip, at least one of these guys can probably pinpoint the problem (if it is a problem) for you.

If the noise is happening when idling in neutral with clutch engaged, get a mechanic's stethoscope or a short piece of garden hose and see if you can determine where the noise is coming from.

turns out i hear the sound from the engine.

engine knock? lol...
car has no power either.. feels like im starting a gear higher in every gear no rpms limited

Hmmmm Lifters noise?!. I advise taking it to a Nissan dealer for inspection and see what they say. Maybe members of the forum can point u into the right direction.

That was my first thought but I wasn't sure enough to even post it as a guess.
