Level ten offers one 700 hp and 1000 hp, ithe 1000 is about $5k with the shipping but you will also need a F.I. flex plate for that kind of power, it around $1k.

Oh, I missed you were asking about GTM, I have no clue on that one.

Lt8Che 02-29-2016 05:11 PM

Not sure about the GTM one. I would shoot Gamma an email and see if they can assist.

You can also get the AAG flexplate.

Level 10 has offered me a trans rebuild kit for the 7AT for only $790 USD. Does this sound correct?

I would have thought a rebiild kit would cost alot more?? I am only inquiring about this is because I am in Australia and shipping their whole LVL10 built tranny costs over 3K USD for just shipping.

So I thought I could order just the rebuild parts and get a Trans specialist here to do the job.

If you spoke with "Pat" @level 10,,, i would say that you are correct with that imfo.
I'm sure that kit is probably just clutches, gaskets, seals & o-rings....But "Pat" is the HMFIC & is straight forward.
Also,,,A Fully Built A7 Trans. From him can withstand 700ft.lbs. of TQ....w/no problems.

highly unlikely. I think a 0, 1, 2, 3 etc might have been missed in the beginning or end of the 790 number

An automactic transmission rebuild kit it totally different than an upgrade/rebuild. First you have to know what to modify and how much for different results.

scope22 12-15-2016 07:46 AM

for 790 he is probably only taking about shift kit, which makes shifts quicker, but doens't change TQ spec

JC you are totally correct. I did speak to Pat and he said the rebuild kit for $790 USD includes:

Clutches

Steels

Gaskets

Seals

Are these items above, all that is required to strengthen my AT box to handle 450-500whp?

Also, Z1 sells and exedy clutch pack for the 7AT:
https://www.z1motorsports.com/transm...at-p-9602.html

What would that do?

I'm no expert by any means but have rebuilt some hemi transmissions to handle more power.

Beyond the clutch plates you have to replace the valve body(where the real trany brains are) and probably some solenoids. Then a new torque convertor with a proper flywheel. Then there is the "other stuff" that Level 10 only knows and the guarantee that Level 10 provides. Their may be additional parts required that Level 10 doesn't sell to the public too.

Plus if you can find someone local who knows what their doing to rebuild it for you. I only know of Level 10 and they seem to do great work and have excellent results.

To the mates in Australia, it will save you lots of money to find someone local to work with Level 10 to rebuild it for you. I hear shipping costs are expensive.

Well I spoke to Kevin from Fast Intentions just recently about their record breaking 7AT TT 370Z from 2015. They told me that all they did to that 7AT box was:

Fast Intentions Billet Aluminium Flex plat
Exedy clutch Packs with extra discs
Custom F.I. shim plates
F.I. 19-row trans cooler

The first two in that list are available to purchase, but the last two are only done in-house as part of their package.

Kevin mentioned that this 677rwhp Z has been driven hard by the owner on many occasions and travels long distances all the time without any tranny issues.

Kevin then also reffered me to Level 10.

I am just awaiting for Level 10 to reply to my last mail now, just asking them if their rebuild kit inlcudes shim plates (what ever they are).

Any body seen this?

Wonder if it would work on our trans?

Interesting part about the shims. (need to check service manual)
The transmission cooler can be made with parts available locally. Combined with a good aftermarket radiator, should be a cool combination, which is probably needed if your boosting.

I would be interested in a Level 10 clutch paks kit, torque convertor, and valve body. That with the other parts could be done locally and be a killer combination. Not sure if I could do it though, as I need to read the manual.

Thanks for doing the legwork on this question.

I asked Pat from level 10 if their kit includes 'shim plates', he told me they do have 'steel plates'. I am guessing they are the same thing.

If you want the Level 10 Valve Body, you have to send in your VB to them. They only do it inhouse. Torque converter you can purchase on it's own from them.

So atm my trans upgrade will be something like:

F.I. Flex Plate
Level 10 Rebuild kit
Locally upgrade torque converter from here or order Level 10s TQ converter
19 Row Trans cooler
Line pressure adjust via UpRev

I wish I could do a VB upgrade, but it would cost me too much to ship my VB to LVL10 and back from Australia. And unfortunately no transmission specialist I have talked to so far in Australia can do a VB upgrade on the Z's 7AT. :(

nomodsjk 12-17-2016 01:08 PM

I was told 4200$ for the 1khp upgrade but that was almost 2yrs ago now

I sure have tried them. As a matter of fact I have been reffered to them by many trans specialist here in SA, but unfortunately they will not and cannot do the VB upgrade.

There was a guy on a Navara forum a few years ago, who wanted to upgrade the VB on his JR11E7 gearbox, same gearbox as our Zs, and he went to MV automatics aswell but MV don't want anything to do with VB upgrades on our veichles. Don't know why... :(

But I did speak to NizPro in VIC, and they said they will attempt to do the VB upgrade if I can leave the car with them for a few weeks. But the thieves also wanted $8K to do it.

So I just said good bye.
