7AT Issue Help Guys!
I posted this once before, my car has been doing something strange in 3rd gear, Im not sure if its slipping or what? My car is a 2014 with 16k miles. I'll post a video to see if you guys can figure it out because I took it to the dealer and they said nothing was wrong with it. https://vimeo.com/154614204

Please describe the issue.
|
Take it to a different dealer.

The problem seems to be that you got AT over MT haha if what you are referring to is that little glitch with the rpm where it kind of like falls a little, I'm thinking its just the computer shifting lag. Essentially your demand is faster than its processing OR I'm also thinking its a sudden loss of power either due to high temp air getting in the engine, or lack of fuel in the chamber, or some other reason. I mean it's hard to work with but things like this would happen with my last car and this car.
I would shift into 2nd and suddenly the car would like lose power and feel very sluggish and forced. Also have an oil change done using royal purple I've tried other stuff other than RP and I'm not happy with temp limits, viscosity and performance in high temperatures haha. Idk what your issue is... maybe I can take a guess... sometimes when I'm in a gear for example... 4th gear... I'll down shift and it would bring me to 2nd gear totally skipping 3rd... maybe when the computer automatically down shifts it and you down shifts at the same time you skip the gear.

The video shows that you are in drive. Does it do the same thing when you are in manual?
|
So Ernie posts this and doesn't describe the problem and doesn't return to the thread (or is 4 hours not enough time and I'm jumping the gun)?
|
cut him some slack... he could be at work and posted this at lunch.
or maybe he realizes he should of just MAN'ual next time. btw in other cars I notice they skip gears when going slow but not sure what I'm missing here |
One thing I noticed, and correct me if I am wrong, but it appears the amber 'triangle' "!" to the left of the tach (Master Warning Light) is lite!!! Why would that be on while the car is running?
|
Yes, the problem is that drop in rpms, it happens everyday, most noticeable after driving off in the mornings after a cold start. The car actually lunges a little too.

I am acceleration the entire time throughout the video

Does this drop in rpm seem like the tranny is slipping? It is a loss of power. Under any kind of acceleration and always in 3rd gear!

Slipping in the transmission normally goes the other way in the RPM range, known as a "flare", because the transmission isn't grabbing.
|
It looks like it's shifting normal to me. These cars shift all the time, try shifting with the paddles and see if you feel anything.

Looks and sounds normal to me from the video.
The 7AT is already superior to the 6Spd Manual. Just get an UpRev tune or Ecutek tune and it will leave the 6Spd in the dust.:happydance: |
Thanks for the input guys. It does it in M-mode and under harder acceleration. It has never done this before (Or maybe I have never noticed it) By the way it doesnt happen when shifting gears, it happens in the middle of 3rd.

Could you guys tell me some signs of the tranny slipping to see if they match whats happening?

I already did. The transmission flares. |

So from the video its not slipping correct? Im just going to try to take it to another dealer and see what they say? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
It does not appear to be slipping.
|
Does it rev higher without accelerating? It doesn't look like it.

No, it doesnt. Its just that drop in rpms in the middle of 3rd gear. I can actually feel the car jolt a little. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Your sure it's not just going to 4th?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Sometimes you can't feel the shifts in this car.

You mentioned after a cold start you notice it. Does it always do that or just when its cold?
|
Okay so my car actually does this too, no idea what really causes it. My mechanic also says it is fine and it doesn't seem to be causing any harm. I just attributed it to a quirk in my gtm upgraded transmission or tune.
It happens most of the time in third gear, but if I switch to 4th gear before it happens in third, 4th will engage at a lower than expected rpm cause it drops during the switch. If that makes any sense, lol. Maybe I can grab a video of mine too. I really only drive my 7at in M-mode so I've gotten familiar with this little problem. It only happens under light acceleration/city driving before my oil/trans is up to temp. When I'm really going for it the shifts are perfect. |
7AT Issue Help Guys!
Ernie has your car been tuned? If so what software?

No, its in the middle of third because it does it in M-mode in the middle of third without me shifting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It does it everytime, just that as the car warms up more and more it becomes harder to notice and it doesnt do it as rough, my car actually jerks when this happens in the mornings after an overnight cold start though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yeah sounds pretty accurate to what my issue is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

My car is 100% stock. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Looks like you're just easing along & it up shifts & then converter locks up & then it notices a load & converter unlocks & locks back.... That slow of bumper to bumper driving & I use manual mode.https://vimeo.com/154954834
This is older video , when mine was bone stock; factory 3.359 open diff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Mine happens at slow speeds, accelerating hard and as long as I accelerate through 3rd gear it does it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
