Vibration between 70 to 90 driving me crazy

I tried it all wheel check (stock 18s) no dents or any damage tires only 3k on then Bridgestone stock size - changed rotors and pads twice nothing!! Same vibration. Did road force still nothing. Now i am thinking engine or tran mounts but its a 2010 roadster with 20k on it! Some mechanics are saying drive train issue some saying everything looks good buy new tires or wheels. I really need advice please help. Only mods are exhaust, pipes, intake ..thx

How many lbs road force on each tire? do you have a printout? Did you replace tires with the same exact bridgestones?

Z4TONY 01-02-2016 03:30 PM

Yes same tires as stock.. No print out? They gave me nothing

The most common causes of vibration: tires, brake rotors (usually stronger when braking), and drive shaft. Could be a bearing, u-joint, &c going bad.

Can you narrow down where the vibration is coming from (one particular corner, front or back, &c)? Does it change in pitch or amplitude; if so, with engine speed, vehicle speed, or what?

Front end, noticeably on steering wheel and pedals mainly on speeds higher than 65 or 70. This is really strange also lately at idle/ red light etc i feel a very light engine vibration in the steering wheel as well you know that 4 cylinder feel :) but goes when I accelerate. Not sure if normal or what? Again I did minor HP Mods i would say an extra 35 or so HP. I had the mechanic check the drive shaft he said looks perfect! He did notice some wrapping on the drive shaft of some sort towards the front end but seem factory normal! Not sure what's my next move. Thx

probably normal man, i'm in NJ and there are no perfect roads here so i'm used to adjusting my steering constantly. What tires are you running? No issues here with my psi set at 35 on 265 RE11's. Remember not all tires are created equal.

Check your torque specs man, you'll be surprised how much it will throw vibrations in your setup. I torque my lug nuts to 110 lbs, but I'm sure the resident experts can confirm the specs for sure. Good luck on finding a remedy.

I'd try bedding the brakes. Sounds like it could be deposits on the rotors.

I would get all 4 corners balanced. That's usually the first thing I check. Then ask the tire guy to take a look at the rotor while the tires are off. If the tires are balanced and rotor still good. Put the car in the air and wiggle each wheel to see if you have bad ball joints ect.

WOW, spec for our car is only 85 ft/lb of torque on the lug nuts.

So you feel the vibration on speeds of 65-70mph during braking only or just cruising?

Z4TONY 01-03-2016 07:07 PM

Cruising only no braking issues

Tires. How many miles? Thread depth? How they wearing? Camber wear? Feathering of tread blocks? Flat spots?

Z4TONY 01-03-2016 09:28 PM

I am leaning towards the tires myself but trial in error is starting to get expensive :) only around 3 or 4 thousand miles max on tires but I will double check thread in detail tomorrow and reply back
