Questions On Mods

Hello, I am fairly new to this forum and owning a 370Z. I am currently running
- Motordyne ART Pipes
- AAM Midpipe/Shorties
- Stillen G3 Intakes

I am stuck on whether or not I should just get the car tuned as is...or upgrade to the Z1 or M370 manifold/Stillen Lightweight Pulley/Throttle Bodies and then tune.

Are these upgrades worth the $$$ when it comes to $/HP/TQ. Or should I just tune the car and leave those items alone?

What would you consider worth the money? As with most questions of this type the answer is very relative based on what YOU want for your individual build. Are you looking for the most HP/$ gain? If that's the case I'd forgo NA bolt ons altogether and save up for a forced induction kit. Many people who go FI lament how much they spent on NA mods.

Is your car a daily driver? How much inconvenience are you willing to put up with? As with all bolt ons, the returns are diminishing. Just because each of these pieces individually advertise 10-15hp increase per part, as you get them in combination they start dropping to 5-10hp, then from 3-6hp, and so on.

Unless you're planning to eek every last bit of NA hp out of this engine, those items you've listed are more trouble than they're worth. Especially the pulley. If incorrectly installed, it could cause serious damage to your engine, depending on who you ask. Just do a search on that one, I don't know enough about it myself to truly comment.

Skip the pulley. The manifold may be a nice touch. The motordyne one loses a few hp at peak power and picks up a bunch of midrange where you actually spend most of your time.

Honestly, the best NA mod after basic bolt ons are gears.

Basically, if I were to line up with another 370z with Full Exhaust/Intakes I want to have an advantage on them. But I don't want to pay 2000 to have a very very small advantage. :)

I do not believe I am going to go FI on this car..It is a daily and I have seen FI kits put people out of their cars for much too long haha. I know of the diminishing upgrades but I have done quite a bit of research on these items and I am still in the air with them. As you said that pulley is a eh eh mod.

Thanks for the quick input!

Like it was said. Skip the pulley. Finish up your mods, then go for a tune. Tune last. Why tune it twice.

It looks like you practically have a full build NA setup. Why did you not go for the manifold/TBs?

The M manifold doesn't thrill me. Thinking about the Z1 set-up. Maybe spring. Waiting to see other options for the throttle bodies. I match ported my upper and lower manifolds myself. Just never did a write up on it.

Do you see much of a difference with the upper/lower manifolds ported? I am also reading on a debate between 3.9 and 4.08 gears.

Going to have to upgrade the gears soon right ;)?

EPs tuning are coming out with 70mm TB's and rjm has an R35 manifold conversion but you have to get rid of the strut bar. Couple other companies are in the "process of making an billet piece. WIsh CJM would create an manifold similar to the badass DE manifold.

I did all of my mods then dynoed. So everything was together. Couldn't tell if one mod did good or not. If you do gears. Get a good LSD.

Any recommendations on the LSD? ATM I am rocking a VLSD due to Sport model.

I would suggest, ART pipes, Stillen G3, FI cat back exhaust and Ecutek. I would probably skip the rest. See how the car is running then and make another decision if I want to stay NA.
