Clutch and Flywheel Replacement

Hey everyone,

I have a question on clutch/flywheel swapping. I bought my 2011 370z and it came with an aftermarket stage 2 clutch/flywheel setup, however, I am really not a fan of the chatter that comes along with it. As a result, I'm looking to replace it with the South Bend clutch kit with Silent Disk option. I am curious if any of you know if the flywheel will need to be replaced as well, since the car already has an aftermarket flywheel in place will I be able to get away with just the stage 2 kit here or will I need to go with the full kit (flywheel included) here?

Thanks so much in advance for any/all advice!

I"ve got the stage 2 with the light flywheel.
My guess is that you have a light flywheel also and that is causing your chatter.
Lighter flywheel=less "smoothness". When you drop from a 30 pound flywheel to a 14.5, there is definitely going to be some chatter.
I have gotten to the point that I enjoy the sound.

Hmm, so the problem is really with the flywheel versus the clutch, so replacing the flywheel in lieu of the clutch *should* relieve some of the clatter (if not all)?

I'm glad that you were able to reach that point, it certainly is a nice performance boost to have it but I just can't stand it and I do a lot of low speed driving so I/pedestrians hear it a lot and it's kind of embarrassing for me to be honest. Driving the nice looking car and everything then it opens up and sounds like marbles in a can haha

The chatter can be kind of annoying, but can be overcome with technique. What I like is the marbles when you romp on it. Not to mention the acceleration gains with the lighter flywheel.
It's been almost a year, so I can't really remember what it sounded like before.
You might talk to Joe at Zspeed and get his feedback. He's very knowledgable and a real nice guy.

Has anyone used the nismo clutch and flywheel kit. I have my eyes open on nismo
double plate clutch as well

I have the South Bend Stage 3 kit with the silent disc and one-piece flywheel and I love it! That said, I doubt it is quieter than what you have right now. If you want to get rid of the chatter, your best bet is to go back to the OEM dual-mass flywheel.

I second the suggestion to speak with Joe at ZSpeed. Tell him what you've got and what you want. He'll tell you whether you need to replace more than just the flywheel. He'll also give you great prices on pretty much whatever you need
