Ticking sound in transmission - disengaged clutch
Hi all!
I recently bought a 2011 Touring 370z with 48k miles, and brand new transmission replaced at 43k miles under warranty. Since I brought it home, I've felt a weird ticking within the transmission if I leave it in neutral and have the clutch pedal pressed to the floor. I can also feel it in the clutch pedal. It's not a consistent tick either. You can hear it inside the car but not outside of it due to the engine noise. Any idea what that could be? Taking it to the dealer Friday, just wanted some opinions before they say "it's normal". Also, does this new transmission come with an extended warranty other than the 6/60k warranty? |
I can understand your concern since the transmission has been replaced, but the Z drive train makes all kinds of weird noises. Probably normal.

That's true, I've done as much looking around as I can, and that seems to be the consensus. I have noticed it's much louder when the clutch is engaged with the flywheel than my previous 350z. It sounds like marbles rolling around! :icon17:

Normal. It'll get a touch quieter with a different fluid, but it'll still make noise. It's a stout transmission, but it's loud. On the upside, it's really hard to break. The CSC on the other hand, will break at any time. Set aside the cost of the aftermarket replacement and labor.

Okay makes sense.. we'll see what the dealer says anyways since it's still under warranty. Thanks for the help!
Any idea if the tranny replacement has extended warranty or not? |
