ECU question

I need to replace my ecu... Is it year specific? Package? I know the nismo ecu is a bit different and all nissan has to do is reprogram to your vehicle, correct?

I have a 12 sport package auto. Thank you

All years gave the potential to be different. You will need to go by the part number on the ECM. What happened to yours? They do go bad, but not very often.

I'm not at all sure but I think each YM (and possibly each model/package) has slightly different ECM programming. You may be able to burn the program from one year ECM to another, but not something I would try. Call/e-mail to one of the tuning software developers (eg, Ecutek) or tuners.

I have flashed different roms on on different ecus using uprev. Find a friend with a cable, have him flash his car back to stock, use it to flash your new ecu with the proper uprev rom for your car, then flash your car with the back to stock rom (again correct for your car) and give the cable back to your buddy so he can re flash his tune on again. My old car has a 08 g37 auto ecu with an 09 370 6mt revmatch rom on it. You will still have to have the dealer initialize the nats and reset the vin on the ecu.

I guess the biggest question is why do you need a new ECU?

I received an ECU update that was NOT needed for my car. It fixes something to do with MAF readings. My car has NO maf problems and since that flash it has been running like crap. I called and I was told once the ECU is flashed there is no going back. If a simple tune will over ride, ill go that route too.

Oh yeah a flash should take care of that no problem. Either ECUtek or Uprevv

That makes me feel so much better, i though since it received an update ii shouldnt have, i was going to have probelms from here on out. When i called they said no rolling back. Before the ecm update the car was crisp, fast, nible and responsive... Since its been lazy, feels really heavy, laggy... Sucks

Thanks i will looking at ecutek asap then
