Agonizing over oil

I know, silly. I've read the "Official Oil Thread" but I just can't decide for my DD if I should go traditional or synthetic. I probably average 150 miles per week. Car is at 4000 miles and I need to schedule the appointment.

I chose synthetic because 5 quarts of Mobil 1 at Walmart only costs $25. If you're not into the DIY thing, then buy the oil and take it to the shop you want to do your oil change. Don't forget the oil filter. Labor is often $10-15 at your dealer or almost any lube shop. I just hate letting other people work on the Z :twocents:

I second that, Mobil1 at BJ's was on sale last week for $26 and that is what I've been using for 34K miles out of the 37k that are on it now.

Spend the extra 2 starbucks per change and get the better oil. If you plan on keeping the car.

Any synthetic is fine. Any regular oil is fine. The key is to regularly change your oil.

I do plan on keeping it a very long time. Thanks everyone.
P.S. Not a Starbucks fan ;-)

3 Happy meals? :)

The point of course it's not much more to use the better oil, when not at a dealership. I'm over 225,000 miles on my Z, is it cause I used Redline? No idea, but it sure didn't hurt.

go synthetic! Best off the shelf lubricant is Pennzoil ultra platinum... if you want to spend a few extra $ and get the best of the best go amsoil SS or Motul
