How strong is the transmission on a z?

How strong is the transmission on the 2011 base 370z model? What's the name of it too?

Manual or auto?

The manual doesn't need much, or anything besides a clutch to take tons of power, the AT is pretty weak.

if you go with turbos then you better have extra money for tranny upgrades.

supercharger you can get away with just tranny tuning and tranny cooler. the SC doesn't make enough TQ typically.

I believe the stock 7AT is rated to 400tq

Torque Rating:
RE7R01A: 400Nm (295lb)

KN21283 06-12-2015 09:28 AM

I think what FP meant is that it'll hold up to 400tq

yeah you knew what I meant lol

it can hold up to 400 but most tune under as the list of completed builds shows.

I can't remember what Cycy's numbers were with the FI TT kit and FI tranny upgrades.

Where I sit now, What worries me most about the 7at is the flex plate. I've ran gears 1-5th WOT and holds very well.

FI has a flex plate that works well and there's some guy working on some other one but he's not sure if it's going to be sold.
