No kidding.. I want one and I dont even have an auto. Its just an impressive piece of machine work.

I dont pay a lot of attention to auto stuff because all my cars are manual.. but I dont think I have never noticed a full machined flex plate before, always stamped and welded etc. This thing is just awesome. I am curious what technique was used to machine the starter ring gear.

I'll buy one

I asked the race engineers how it was made. The teeth were done by teeth machine, and the angle on the teeth was done by CNC teeth by teeth, so the whole process was crazy long, lol

I'll talk to the Mods about setting up a group buy, if we can get around 10 ppl or so I can ask the team to produce it.

message Fast Intentions.. they may have a solution but not sure since I do not have an AT. But they did build the worlds fastest AT 370z ;)

I saw Tony's post on the Facebook page showing he made a CNC flex plate as well for that car but with aluminum. Not sure how he did it but if it's one piece design I'd worry about how long the teeth last tho.

Fast intentions make a flex plate now, if anyone wants one get it from them

What did you do to model the balloning stress on the plate? I know the diesel guys run into issues there as the case ballons under load and the cnc plates they use dont flex so most switch to a reinforced anti balloning converter case?

(The axial flexing of the plate due to the converter changing shape under load)

I wonder what the price difference and performance difference is between this and Fast Intentions flex plate?

either way it's cool to see more options becoming available finally for the AT.

I mean it's only a 7 year old model well 8 if you count the just released 2016 models.

When my team first made this flex plate, the purpose was to make one that doesn't crack due to torque, not flexibility, so we ran the analysis and avoid having holes at the area where it has lower strength. We added the thickness to the center portion and left the outer part the same, and this is to avoid adding flex strength either. For the material we followed the SFI regulation for the gasoline engine, not the diesel engine one, so the flexibility is within requirement. We also ran a simulation as well as a dynamic balance with the torque convertor on at 12000rpm for an hour, just to ensure everything works and not going to crack in real life.

For now I'm only selling to local owners here in Taiwan, 'cuz I'm not a sponsor and can't sell here. However, if there's enough interest I can become a sponsor or have distributor to do that in the US. I don't know if I can give out price on it without becoming a sponsor tho.

Thank you. Your new oil pan looks awesome, too. Depending on the total amount of oil it holds, I might switch out my GTM one for yours since the GTM one doesn't have a front and back trap door and that's where we need the most. :rofl2:
