Problem after new rack n pinion

Hi,

After a rack and pinion rebuit, went ahead and reset the rack n pinion sensor after installing the new unit. The vdc and traction are still appearing.

A mechanic told me a rnp piece was suppose to be taken off with a scaner hooked, so the car will recognize its center. Need some input before proceeding to fix the problem.

Take it to a dealer and let them reset the rack sensor.
