So I was driving enjoying the weather and all of sudden my car goes out, no power nothing engine has shutdown. I pull over and see smoke is coming from under the hood. I check the oil and it is low almost bone dry. I go and purchase a bottle of oil and pour it in. I can hear the oil hitting the ground. I check under the car and there is a puddle of oil under there. When the flat bed came and the car was on an incline more oil poured out like a river. We checked under the car and did not see any visible damage (trying to check if the oil pan was busted but, it seems to be covered). I did not hit any potholes today nothing major just a cruise. I am trying to figure out is there anything else that could cause oil to rush out of the car. Also my car will not start. :shakes head::shakes head::shakes head:

When I first pulled over the puddle of oil was very small after I poured oil in. When the tow truck came more oil poured out.

Did you just recently had a change oil?

Is your oil plug tighten too?

it is at the dealer now I probably won't hear anything until this week. I change my oil every 5000 with synthetic at a Nissan dealership. It was not due until another 100 miles.

That sucks man. Sorry that happened to you. It could be a bunch of things. From simple to bad. I would put it on stands and pull the plugs out and try to free her up with Marvin's Mystery oil. Put some in each cylinder and let it set over night then try to turn crank with wrench. Might need to repeat several times before braking free. May not ever break free.

While it's up try to find out were oil leaked from, front, rear main seals, crack in block etc..

Hope it works out man.. :driving:

these are the 2 items that can have this huge leaks. Do you have an oil cooler? If so, it could be the busted hose on the cooler. Since the oil came right out when you pour it in, it might be the drain plug as it is at the lowest point of the motor. Oil filter/cooler are at a higher position so it would only leak when it is pressurized.

The oil pan is protected by a plastic under cover. So you have to hit something hard to go through both the plastic cover and metal oil pan and I am sure you would feel/hear the impact.

Good luck...

Hate to say it but it sounds like someone did not put the oil drain plug back in tight. That, or you lost a rod and swoled the block.

Well if it was good for 4900 miles I doubt it was the drain plug. I hope it isn't but it would seem like it's something much worse.

Yeap, it was swoled. (hole in the block and basically destroyed)

Zoren 370 03-23-2015 09:23 PM

Hmm...how can you have a hole in your engine? How do you drive your roadster?

zefaulter 03-23-2015 09:26 PM

Hole in what?

Spooler 03-23-2015 09:29 PM

He obviously lost a rod through the side of the block. "Exit stage right".

How do you do that?

Not sure how I got a hole. The short block was replaced in June by the dealer maybe something was not done correctly. I don't beat up on my car. I drive it fast here and there. Nothing crazy though.
