Oil Pressure Light on when Idle and warm

All,

My Z has been in the garage for the last 5 month, though would start it and let it warm up and take it for a short drive every now and again (not as much as I should) but now I'm noticing that once warmed up the Oil Pressure light will come on once idle. If I rev it up a little, it goes away. Now since I just noticed it last weekend and won't drive it until fixed I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience.

I've ordered the oil pressure sensor (aka sending unit) as hopefully it is something so cheap and simple and going to change the oil as well. Though it only has about 2500 miles on since last change.

Have you checked the dip stick to see the where the oil level is at?

Yes oil level is almost at full mark. And yes I did check it after warmed up and let sit for 10min. I'm running full-synthetic

I hope for your sake its just the sending unit.

Yes, if it is the oil pump I would feel more people would be having similar problems as engine isn't modded and some people pushing a lot more on the motor, but could just be one of the few unlucky ones where sh*t happens.

I'd check the electrical connections between the pressure switch and the ECM before replacing the switch.

If the engine in not making any more noise than it normally does, it's probably the switch. If the engine is making even the slightest bit more noise, I wouldn't run it until the problem is determined/fixed. YMMV

Well new sensor is in and switched to redline as well. Not 100% sure that was the problem but lets hope it doesn't come back on again! Hopefully you don't hear from me on this again.haha

Resurrected, back from the dead. I'm having this problem now. I'm guessing since your problem was fixed by replacing the switch?
