possible loss of power?

Ever since I bought my car about a month and a half ago, I have felt that the car feels relatively slow in acceleration for the stats it claims. There is just something about the acceleration that gives me a sensation that it isnt performing adequately. It's kind of a confusing and relatively vague question but has anyone experienced a similar situation?

FYI I came from a bmw 328i so no power that im comparing it to.

Make sure you have proper octane fuel.

Have u timed a 0-60 or 1/4. It may feel slow but isnt.

Yeah I never mess around with gas, I always fill premium at either Chevron or Shell.

The Z doesn't give much of a sensation of thrust under acceleration. Not much torque and very linear power delivery. It's a bit deceptive.

I tried but I havent been able to get an accurate reading. I also wondered if it was a mental thing just solely because our cars lack low end torque.

Its deffinately mental. That and the power curve mentioned above. The only real bullet proof way is to maybe drive another Z or record times or dyno of yours. Go test drive one at a dealership and walk away after lol

Coming from an acura tl fwd that i still daily drive. The Z feels like a rocketship being rwd.

The throttle response is very muted on the stock tune at lower RPMs. I got a tune with virtually no other mods (intakes only), and it was almost like a new car :twocents:

yeah it's the conservative throttle map. it really needs a tweaked map to unlock some decent shove

Any mods on the car when you got it? Wonder if it had a low power map, for when going through valet or given to car wash employees. Check to see if it swaps maps

I never felt the car was slow, and I could spin tires even at low rpms.

dumb question but your not hitting traction control right? Tried turning off vdc

Get hfc's or tp's that awakens the beast.

smoothtransit 01-27-2015 11:32 AM

Yeah so I might go get a Dyno tune since that's what i've heard makes a big difference. I already have a full Stillen CBE, so it would probably be a good idea to have a remap done. Any recommendations for a proper tune?

juld0zer 01-28-2015 02:29 AM

if you are comparing it to th F30 328i then you definitely have a valid point. i drive BMWs daily for work and they have excellent throttle response, even in comfort mode - compared to even my tune throttle map
