The gift was that you were one of the ones who actually received a product. :rofl2: |

I got a ticket and stickers the ticket I'm not sure what is does but it's just a little pink ticket with numbers on it like a raffle ticket type of thing
|
Same here.

I got a ticket and stickers as well... such an awesome mystery gift! :happydance: I just found this thread tonight and thankfully I have not installed mine yet. I'm honestly not sure if I am going to now? The reviews on NST's short shifters seemed pretty good... not sure with these reviews here that I will go ahead with the install. :ugh2:
|
Well, if I hear one more person has an issue after install...that **** will be on eBay. But honestly if it is junk, I'd feel bad even selling it to a fellow Z owner.
|
Im going to install it on the gal this weekend. I can't knock it until I try it...

Will do.

Iv had mine for about 2 weeks and it sucks!!! I had a specialty shop that only works on Z's do the install and they called me and told me "the SS you bought is a pos"
Literally the words that came out of their mouths. It has no reverse lockout, and 4th to 5th is terrible. I hate it with a passion. Save your money and buy TWM |
All this information may have been relevant and helpful several weeks ago. eBay it is!

This shifter isn't bad... It's terrible. I'd rather weld a dildo to the transmission and shift with that...
|
I just requested a refund. No way after these reviews Im spending my money on this.

Ive personally known Mike since 2009 and have had no issues with him at all. I certainly dont think that he is shady in the slightest and have left my car with him for various projects over the years. When it comes down to quality i think of NST, i have had the NST pulleys on my car since nearly day 1 and i have logged over 45,000 miles with them with 0 issues. I had said, when i first reviewed this, that the ssk hung slightly going into 5th from 4th but only when i pushed hard far right then up instead of going over and up quickly...perhaps that comes down to individual shiting habits? Im not sure. Quote:
I have the NST SSK on my car and intend to leave it there. As planned, ill pull it all apart at around 5k miles and see how the wear on it compared to the wear i saw on the SSK i previously had installed. |

Usually I go in rage mode when I buy something and it doesn't fit or performs like ****. Hell, half the times I try to get the car in reverse it doesn't work
|
Install or Not ?

Disregard Mozen... I found your SSK comparison. Why is it that everyone else isn't happy with the product ?
|
Just received an email saying mine got shipped. If I get it this weekend I'll try to have it in and see what all the fuss is about. Will report back when I can.

Im not sure why Mike did not renew his forum sub however i still dont feel he is being shady at all. Most of us that have purchased stuff from NST in the past have had to learn some patience. Could he stand to work on his business manufacturing and shipping model?....probably most of us would say yes. Does he make quality parts? I think so..the Pulleys i got are great quality and the SSK for the price is good as well. |

Correction, NST's SSK is posted at a price of $86.00 on their website. And that does not include a shift knob. Add a shift knob to the kit, priced at ~$20.00 and you are already at $106.00. Don't forget to add tax and shipping as well. I am not complaining about the Group Buy price, and I quite honestly don't think anyone is, but... from looking past the Group Buy deal, I saw a SSK valued at $120.00 and thought I'd be receiving a quality product. And I say "I" but I think everyone in the Group Buy who has attempted to install the SSK can agree that the quality of the product is not what it should be. Perhaps NST should make the Group Buy price the actual price of their SSK. That way at least people have an idea as to what the quality of the product really is. That is just my opinion. |

Thats fair enough, however we paid the GB price and then add in shipping. Still..past the cost of materials what is NST making? Certainly not what B&M is for a very similar looking SSK. Additionally i think the shift knob is not an issue(except for the guy who got the wrong one?) or am i wrong? I would like to see the red shift knob i have with a slightly raised lip around the edge tho so the sticker sat down into it a little bit but thats just me. |
I just chqnged it back to stock and..... 100 % better shifts go right in nothing notchy etc... while I had the stocker out I cleaned and regreased everything. The stock lube almost feels like some kind of silicone. I see alot of posts that people are pissed. For $50 bucks I was hoping it would work better but, the fact is it did work just not that good imo. I will just caulk it up to something that didn't work for me.
So Chuck PM you addy and I will get this in the mail with the Mishimoto radiator and thermostat:happydance: |
It only took 4 emails but supposedly they're processing my refund. Im not holding my breath.
|
Anyone else care to share their thoughts on this SSK ?
|
Got my tracking number yesterday. Should be here tomorrow or Friday., let's see how it goes.
|
Got mine. Still trying to find time to install. And trying to figure out how to get stock knob off without destroying it

Wrap the shifter in a rag before you put the strap wrench on. I also popped the boot and shifter trim up, wrapped the shaft of the shifter with electrical tape and held it with a pair of vise grips while I turned the strap wrench. There was so much blue loctite on the threads I'm shocked I didn't have to cut the knob off. |
Just got mine and it seems as if no one who has this likes it. So I am going to throw it up on eBay.
