No one needs helper springs? Things have slowed down past month or two.

BUMP get them while I still have them available! I think I'm down to 38 left.

BUMP - Clutch helper springs get yours before I sell out 36 left!

ZForce 12-07-2012 03:50 PM

Hey Mike, quick question. Why do these springs have a rough finish on both ends of them?

See pic for reference that you posted on page 1 post # 15.

It's like they have been ground down with a grinder. Was it done to make them flat? Are they supposed to stand on end, vertically straight up?

Bottom line is....does it really make any difference?

LMBmikeZ 12-07-2012 05:46 PM

Yes they are all like that, the spring is flat so it can seat in the clutch assembly perfectly! Don't worry they are all supposed to be like that, I take it you haven't taken the OEM one out yet have you? When you do you will notice the OEM one will also stand up on its own with a flat top and bottom (a lot of springs are like these) the difference will be that the OEM one has much thicker metal for the coils in the spring. The OEM on has a very strong spring rate I think it was like 300lbs or something like that if my memory is correct..... my spring that I offer I believe is rated at 70 or 75lbs.

ZForce 12-07-2012 09:26 PM

Cool beans...and no I have not, but have read and seen pics on your other thread and esfouteen's thread. I thought that was the case with OEM spring and aftermarket spring. I tried to get my mechanic at the dealer to install it since the entire clutch pedal assembly was being replaced after my master slave cylinder was recently replaced. The clutch pedal assembly had a developed a quacking sound (no it's not the air seeping from the air breather hole on the compressor/shock housed in with the clutch helper spring). Turned out the shock was blown, seals.

Anywho...he was leery of using the spring, not that he would not do it for me as I am family with my dealer. He questioned the strength since it was shaved/grounded afraid it might make a creaking sound. I assured him it is not the case and several hundred Z/G members have been using the same spring for over a year and there is no creaking sound. So I just said shine it on and I will later have a monkey boy with small frame and fingers install it for me for some pizza and beer.

Thanks bro and apologies for the long winded reply. And for the record you are correct, the OEM is 300 lb and yours is like 70-75 lb.

Will update thread after I return from London and install the spring along with some other cosmetic goodies. :tiphat:

LMBmikeZ 12-08-2012 12:36 PM

Ya don't worry it is made like that with the grinding already done. They would have done it to clean up any sharp edges from manufacturing. Also there is no creeking in mine and its been installed the longest and no one else has reported creeking with the spring
