Help me install my amuse bumper correctly
 

Hello I bought a rear bumper from aero jacket and the fitment came out bad next to the light on both sides :( it was a body shop that did it for me and I think they messed up not aero jacket . Every one who buys their bumper has never had this problem and I'm worried cuz I really want to fix it but I'm not sure how to. Can you guys let me know what's the problem so I can tell the body shop to fix it.

Seems like the fitment is not right. What exactly did they do again? painted it and slapped it on?

Or are you pushing Inward to show the gap seems like a loose panel?

They painted it and installed it . I'm not pushing anything , this bumper is fiber glass so it's really hard and not flexible

yeah, im guessing its prolly not the bodyshops fault. These kits are spot on sometimes (usually not the case) and other times they need minor fabrication. Its hit miss. Thats why if you want perfect fitment without fab. you have to buy the real thing. I did the same thing as you and bought a rep and it needs fab. as well.

From my research this is a pretty common issue. If its a big deal to you then I would take it back to the bodyshop and pay for them to correct it. Prolly will take 3-4 days.

If you have to tell a body shop how to fix it...time to use another body shop :tiphat:

I'm close to pulling the trigger on a Shine Auto Amuse front & rear. I hear more positives with regards to fitment with them.

I'm interested in this also as Duraflex is known to fit terrible.

My duraflex fit very good. Having said that, there will always be small areas of correction before painting and final mounting. To paint and mount without correction is just asking for trouble.

Ive heard the same thing. However, they told me they have a new line which is better; maybe a sales gimmic but I took the bait.

Exactly!! ^^^ I had to have mine corrected even before we started painting; chips, scratches, all just minor little details but has to be prepped before you paint or it will show through

Why can't a vendor just get the exact dimensions of the oem panels and then just manufacture it according to those measurements?

I think they keep making copies of copies instead of one quality mold. My BDS side skirts were beyond horrible in terms of fitment. They weren't even close and my body guy had a hella time getting them squared.

Because not every car fits the same! Each car is a little bit different on the lot. Add to that the fact this is a manufacturing process for Fiberglas and you can have small changes in dimensions and fit that need to be adjusted during body prep. This is nothing new. It has always been like this in adding body kits. Some kits fit better than others but all need minor prep.

I see people selling their oem panels ALL the time on here. And people buy them left and right for their 370z without even questioning fitment. They know it's going right on. I have never seen an oem panel NOT fit another 370z or requiring a shop to work on an oem panel to fit on to another stock 370z. So why can't these manufactures just manufacture a panel similar to these? I know it's fiber glass so just mold it. You have to either way. Might as well do it right. or at least as close to oem as possible. Some of these aftermarket panels require shops to damn nearly brake them into peaces smh.

I have some experience with molding a rear bumper on the car, as I just added a duraflex Nismo a couple months ago..

Right below your finger in the third photo, there is a bracket beneath the body. Its attached to the frame of the car. It has 5 clips that were made for OEM bumpers to clip into and hold them into place right below the taillight.

When I got my duraflex bumper, there was extra paneling near that bracket, but no HOLES or INSERTS for the bumper to clip into. So i had to custom drill holes for the bracket to connect to... It seems to me that may be your issue. The sagging or not filling out looks like its from not being properly fitted onto that bracket/mount on the underside of the bumper, I could be wrong though.

My rear bumper was off fitment by around 8-10 inches. Took 2 hrs of heat gun and custom molding to make it fit and look perfect..
