New "Z" emblems

Not much of a DIY but they look pretty nice so I thought I'd post a picture of them. They came from Taiwan, here's the link.

2009 2014 JDM Nissan 370Z Front Rear Z Logo Emblems 2 PC | eBay

Got to wait on warmer & dryer weather to put them on.

Are the factory hamburgers on with just adhesive, or are there holes drilled into the bodywork for some kind of tabs ? I'm thinking if the originals can be removed with the old dental floss trick it should be a quick and easy project to pop them off and press the new JDM Z logos in place.

There are no holes in the body work. They're just held on with double sides 3M tape. There are some alignment pins sticking out of the body but they do not have to be cut off with these emblems. I had a tough time with the floss breaking & tried a suggestion from other forum members to use nylon fishing line. I believe that worked better. Getting the old residue off was a chore. Warming with a hair dryer was a definite help.

I got a warm enough day to install them. Here's a picture.

I thought it might have overdone the "Z's" on the back so I've removed the Z from the 370Z. Do you think I should put that Z back or not?

Definitely my favorite emblems for the simple fact they match the fender emblems perfectly.

AZNdrumsKazuk 03-05-2014 01:03 PM

Is it just me, or is that emblem on upside down?

You would be correct. I realized that after I stuck it on & hoped no one would notice.
(I got the front right)

Nope. Remove the rest (370) and go for a cleaner look...:tiphat:

AZNdrumsKazuk 03-13-2014 10:04 AM

Or put the FairladyZ emblem on and watch other people pull up behind you and mouth the words "What's a FairladyZ?" If I had a nickel for every time I saw that........ I'd probably have a couple of bucks...

Because they ARE the fender emblems

Close, but they're not. These are 2 different sizes (larger than fender). Plus, fender emblems are round without the burger :tiphat:

I guess you didn't get it. They are hacked up side markers on a backing. Trust me, I know. I make them

Look closely, you'll see the texture of the side markers, look closer (pics aren't detailed enough) and you'll see "Stanley" on it

I got these from Taiwan, not that that means anything about their construction.

The first picture is the new rear emblem, there is no writing under the Z.

The second picture is the new front emblem, same.

The third picture is the side marker, you can see the writing under the Z.

The fourth picture is the side marker with a wonderful view of my missing thumb. (Thanks Mr. Ho Chi Minh)

Are you saying that you make the ones that are being represented as "JDM" and sold by the vendor located in Taiwan, or that you have made something similar by hacking up side markers on some kind of hamburger backing ?

it's also a bit crooked...sigh...

is there a way to paint the "Z" on the side fender red to match the calipers?

Yeah, the entire back is solid 3M tape (you won't cut this one off with nylon line). When it touched, it stuck good. If I could remove it without destroying it or scuffing the auto finish I would fix that. Suggestions?

Jordo! 03-13-2014 07:20 PM

I believe you need to trim some notches off on the bumper with a razor blade to make them fit. They will be visible once the OEM logos come off. The rear one may need some extra 3M tape to fit unless the sizes are properly matched (which they probably won't be..).

Anyway, they are nice and once you get them on right you should be happy with them. Good luck!

Older/other Z side markers don't have that much writing on them.

No. I don't make Taiwanese shít.
I used to (and I guess I still can) make the same emblem by hacking up a side marker.
I bought a bunch of blanks a dealershit had. They made 350 emblems, so I could only make front badges for the 370Z because the rears are different

Mr.Zbody 03-14-2014 03:41 PM

So are these Z's not supposed to come on 2013 and up already? I ask cause I'm a new owner of a 2013 touring sport with 2000 miles on it and it already has these Z's on front and Back. I'd honestly never noticed them till I actually bought my car a few weeks ago cause I'm used to seeing the Nissan badges instead of the Zs I started wondering if they were lights for a second lol But yea are they standard on all 370s 2013+ now? Wanna know if they are original or aftermarket.

I believe they would be aftermarket. The original front & back have "NISSAN" on them.

Be careful with popular emblems. I just noticed this morning the red S from my Acura TL is missing. Apparently someone thought the red S is going to give their car 20+ ponies and felt it was worth it over my agonizing loss of the red S. I just hope they don't start jacking Nissan emblem or the letter O when type O becomes the next hot thing.
