Disable Abs
1 Attachment(s)
Hi, i have located the abs fuse in my 370z and now i want to remove it but i dont know how to do it....it goes together with 2 other fuses in fuse box.... Does anyone have an idea how to remove the abs fuse ?
the picture below is not from my car but i put it because the fuses and the fuse box are pretty much the same thanks |
I'm not sure that pulling the fuse will work (may disable something else), but, to pull the fuse, either use your fingernails, small pliers, or the fuse puller that Nissan placed on the fuse block by the driver's feet.

ive just tried with the fuse puller but it works only with the regular fuses...

I did not check out the photo before my first answer. The red circle doesn't show up in the thumbnail. Sorry about that.
You are looking at a combination fuse (two of more fuses in one unit). A quick look at mine ('09 Touring) tells me that you do NOT want to remove the unit as it also powers a couple of other things - radiator fan and ignition switch (see diagram molded into fuse block cover). You may be able to replace the other two fuses with "standard" fuses, but that's just a guess. |

You can either take the cover off of the fuse unit and clip the element or blow the fuse on purpose. Of course, if you ever want to enable again, you'll need to replace the whole unit.

do you know where can i buy it online?

Part number is 24370-C992B for the fuse module. Buy a spare and cut out the fuse wire for the ABS. Just swap fuse modules back and forth to enable and disable ABS.
I can't say the car will drive very well without ABS since the brakes are heavily rear-biased and ABS is used to balance the braking. I suppose it could be useful for drifting where you want the rear to step out under braking. |
yes thats my purpose :)

good luck if you are just removing the ABS fuse.
The brake system will become 50/50 which give way too much rear bias, you think that will help you in drifting ? I doubt it very much, because you normaly use the handbrake to initiate the drift (one of the method) using the brake pedal will also upset the front end. but go ahead do it hehe... so if you do remove the ABS , I strongly suggest you to install a proportional valve. then if you go even farther by removing the actual ABS module, let me know how it goes ! your speedometer will not work unless you figure out which wires to hard-wire. |
^ that's it... good you know what you're getting yourself into. It's a very different feeling car and stopping distance will increase with 50/50... I had some off-track excursions when I did this, including a trip into a tire wall... not a good idea for the avg street car to disable abs on this platform

my current cheap setup
until I get the proper race pedal assembly with a balance bar..... http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...n-done-yet.jpg |
i want to disable abs because i want to install hydraulic handbrake...
Does anyone know how to make abs on/off switch? |

Replace your yaw switch with a double-pole switch and you can turn them on/off together. |

can you get 70/30 force distribution? |

Hello,
I finally figured it out how to disable abs unit and put a switch so you can turn it on/off whenever you want! Things that you will need for this mod: 1. Oem fuse replacement (you can buy it online for 4 usd) 2. 30 amp fuse (universal) 3. On/off Switch First, remove the battery cover. Then locate the fusebox ! On the top of the fusebox cover, in the lower right corner there is the abs fuse shown. Remove the fusebox cover! Actually you can see that the abs actuator fuse sits in the middle with 2 other fuses. You will need the abs actuator fuse. Remove the oem fuse and remove the top plastic cover of the fuse. Cut the fuse wire and then put two wires on each side! One on each side. Connect the 30 amp universal fuse to one of the wires so u can keep the abs unit safe. The next step is to bring the wires inside the car which is pretty easy. Remove the plastics and covers around the battery and then in the left corner you will see a cable going inside the car.the cable is secured with grommet around it.You will have to remove the grommet and put the wire inside the car. You should see the wires coming out just below the glove box. Then just put a switch on the wires and the work is done. NOTE! 1. If you use led switch dont connect the grounding because the led will stay on even when you turn the car off. 2. You can deactivate the abs when the car is on, but you must restart the car in order to re - activate the abs unit! Sorry for my english, if anyone has questions feel free to pm me! :) Special thanks to SouthArk370Z. He helped me figure out this mod |
