ok here it is
I needed the tablet on the fly and like the idea of it also being in the car and a small screen wont cut it for me so ….
Items needed to complete tablet storage Leatherette ‘’ Samsung’’ Clear screen overlay ‘’ Berklin’’ Velcro - ‘’Command Brand’’ Permanent Marker ‘’Sharpie’’ Glue’’3M Spray Adhesive’’ Punch hole’’ for camera’’ ALTERATION STORE Auxiliary cable or A2DP (6” aux is to short unless you mount case lower or make hole on bottom of case to connect) OK First start by measuring your tablet and case by placing tablet inside and finding the outer edge of the tablet..There is space between the edge of the tablet and end of the leatherette This is your starting point to measure. I personally wanted to have a little of the black part of the screen showing so I ended up with a larger center square. So from that point I measured ½ inch but the top and bottom I just used the edge of the case to mark my beginning point. Then I made outline with a marker and took it to the alteration shop AKA Shoe repair. I requested silver stitching to match my knee plates.. Take the screen cover and remove only the side that isn’t tacky from the screen protection. This is the side you will glue to your leatherette. Once you remove your tablet the leatherette still look like a regular screen and its not like a ugly hole in the case. I measured 1inch from center and eye ball the top and bottom.. I placed the Velcro on the cubby lid then place the leatherette to get the fit I wanted. I finished with the black marker where the cut was made to cover the core of the case.. Driving for a month I notice I needed to add a foam on the bottom because the slight play and taking it in and out all day long for work and security also I found adding another Velcro piece inside to loop[ on top ,middle point would give support to the case so it wouldn’t slump outwards, other than that boyz n gurlz get ready to turn heads for a $20.00 mod..LOL unless you don’t have the case/tablet etc… cubby still function like factory too…ENJOY!!! also if you want i have a DIY on f-1 Light using your factory fog light another $20 LOL |

FYI.. I dont remove my case.. i just take the tablet and transfer it to another case but i could at anytime remove the one that is mounted because of the velcro..
The first pic is without tablet inside, still looks good Second is taken around sunrise and with the hatch open, still clear Check out the pics at night in my album.. That'z when all those SUV'S AWW at the screen |

If u want credit that you took a tablet case- stitched it to frame it then placed protective screen then I will delete this thread and give you Rep but if you just mount it more or less than hit me with Rep man
We are here to support one another not envy "agree to disagree " But I want to see thread n date of your post |

Im going for a more factory look, but with the tablet still being able to be removed. What did you do for a charging/implementing it into factory and/or aftermarket speakers.
|
If they ever come out with a smaller iPad, it would be perfect for that spot. The current iPod is just too big IMO. Does the Galaxy have GPS? That would be the only reason I'd want a tablet in the car...and maybe for music.
|
I plan on removing the factory deck and only using a tablet. With Verizon you can get Navi, but im hoping to find a free version to run instead. With the cost of XM radio/High end deck (was going to get a Kenwood 9990HD) I can pretty much have a car PC. There isnt to much an iPad or tablet can not do, and is a lot cheaper than the 9990HD. It can also be carried with when you arrive at your destination. I am 100% sold on this setup.

I keep hearing rumors about it, esp. with the new iPhone 5 out - the mini's will have it's smaller, more powerful(?) lightning connector. |

Wow! Thanks for that link, I need to be patient I think. Any idea if it will be able to do what I posted above that the Android software is capable of? Or will we just have to wait and see what the new one can do?

With this set up, I added MIFI and A2DP. I'm on the internet and have pandora running thru my factory speakers with only a power wire hard mounted. If you rotate it sideways you could fit it in the center and get it custom flush mounted with fiberglass into the dash.. radio are going out of style and tablets are replacing them with more practical aps and function. Yes a 10.1 can be flush mounted but, I'm into whp rather than looks so this is good enough for me..

Im not big into Smart phones/tablets and all the apps they come with/can be had. My cell phone only has talk and text, not even picture text. I feel like the phone companies are ripping everyone off so I refuse to fall into the trend. We have 2 iTouch and an iPad, but I only use them for music/games.
Until I came across this as an option I had no idea how much these tablets can do. Now the hard part is going to be picking the right one. There are so many options! I also keep reading about new smaller tablets with the power of the larger ones coming out so im trying to wait a little longer. With the extra time I can continue to learn about them. I really want an iPad because I am used to the UI but anything with a screen that large will require a lot of dash modifications. I have no problem doing that, but slapping in a 7" tablet would be so much easier. Even if they make a smaller iPad I still may not go with it because of the loss of music while using Navi (I have not tested this just what I have read). If that is fixed in the new version then I will get one for sure. Quote:
