EVO-R foglight with programmable flasher relay
Hi guys,
Ever since I bought the Z I've noticed that some people stop unnecessarily close behind me, so I recently bought a smoked led foglight from EVO-R (<--good guy to deal with) and a prebuilt flasher relay to get their attention. I had seen others that built their own relays and while it looked cool I wanted something with a lockout time so it wouldn't flash constantly while stopped. I also needed it to be simple (only 3 wires to hookup) as I'm not an electrical genius. What I bought was a prebuilt relay with 36 selectable modes including "don't flash". The relay also locks out the flash function for 15/30 seconds after you release the brake. It's about the size of a quarter and encased in plastic so it should be very weather resistant. http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...611_210349.jpg Powered on/brake applied: http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...611_210405.jpg My coffee table test setup powered by a 9V battery: http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...611_210418.jpg This is how you select the mode you want. You momentarily jump these two white wires. http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...611_210546.jpg How I wired everything. Only three wires to connect. http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...611_210643.jpg On the back of the EVO-R foglight I only used black and red. I just tied off the white wire. http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...611_210718.jpg Here's a quick video of the relay in action. The flashing isn't as fast as in the video. My camera just made it seem that way. |
Could there be a way to manually select "on, off, and flashing" by a switch or so at any moment regardless of the specific situation as braking or wiring to tailights.

I'm trying to work out a wiring method with a similar device, to make it steady 100% with lights on and flash on-off when braking instead of 50% steady and 50-100% flash. Still no luck

http://www.the370z.com/diy-section-d...re-w-pics.html You could probably combine the harness and the programmable relay to do instant on/flashing or off. |
