DIY – Installing Philips DRL-4 Daytime Running Lights

I’ve done a lot of mods to my 370Z, but this one really stands out, literally and figuratively. I think it upgrades the look of the car and the addition of DRLs is obviously a safety feature.

Nice job. This is my next mod.I'm just trying to figure out what kind of Switch I want to use inside the car. Do I go old skool and do a pilot switch or use a stock rocker switch that looks OEM. still looking around.:tup:

Thanks. About the switch: I was thinking the same thing: get full control of the DRLs, because the Philips controller turns off the DRLs when the headlights are on, i.e., at night. As it turns out, the DRLs are so bright you don't want them on at night--they would blind on-coming drivers. So I ended up installing the DRLs following the instructions, with no extra switch.

I have loaded my center console with powered switches: one for the rear fog light, one for interior lighting effects, and one that was going to be the DRL controller.

It has been a while since this thread was active but I just wanted to throw in my idea of placement. I did not install everything yet, just hooked up the wires and tested, nothing screwed in, but I thought of a nifty little place to put them. In the removable area on the outside of the fangs you could drill a small hole, or just take a little bit of the outside off and run the wires. You could mount the bracket back inside the bumper so from the side it looks flush and is only visible from the front.

I test fitted the lights with some tape on mine and it looks great. You could even go as far as to throw some night shade on them too so when they are off it is completely hidden.

Just an idea I thought up.
