Nice job man! Personally I'm not crazy about the color on our rims, but you did a really clean job, looks great! Have you thought about putting plastidip glossifier on top of the plastidip?

Nice...Did the same thing with my black roadster, except I didn't take the wheel off the car, and I removed the nissan sign in the middle of the wheel so the silver shine through.

I did this to mine, and it looks great. but with your car being black, i think it would look better shiny... its to contrasting between your tires, and paint

my 2 cents

I did this on my sports and hated it haha. I like the sport wheels the way they are. I took my plasti dip off the next day because I couldn't stand it. I kept it on my emblems though ;) I wanted black wheels so I went aftermarket route and I'm glad I did. Congrats though

What About the Lugs?

I also plasti-dipped my wheels, but went all out, coating the lugs and center. I MUCH prefer the backed-out wheels to the original on my gunmetal car.

Nice, I noticed they make a gloss black too now, on a black car might like nice.

The glossifier would definitely do the trick! Been wanting to apply the glossifier to my emblems.

How many cans did it take you to do all four rims?

JWMotoring 05-20-2012 11:35 AM

Nice! They just need some gloss IMO.

LakeShow 05-20-2012 11:42 AM

Looks good! I prefer a gloss black look though myself.

I used the better part of three cans putting on four coats. I had enough left over in the last can to black out my rear valence with three coats, which is obviously more than equivalent to another coat on the wheels if you wanted to put a total of five coats on them. It's been about three months now and the PlastiDip is holding up well--and I still love the look of matte black wheels.

I used 2 cans on mine http://www.the370z.com/members/rlm23...18-184320.html

I don't know if PlastiDip will hold up to the wear that a door handle takes. I have been thinking of doing the handles in the same blue as the brake calipers and rear license plate frame (maybe do the badges too).
