My steering lock went out last week with 58000 miles on the car and was told it would be 985 plus tax. This is great news that the part was recalled saving me some serious cash!!

Great news ! Is it posted up somewhere on the RECALL ? As I would like to recoup my $50 deductable on my extended warranty.

I haven't seen an official announcement yet, but others are reporting that dealers are already taking care of it. Contact your dealer with your VIN. http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-w...ml#post2203773

I contacted my dealer during warrenty but pulled the fuse myself. I'm now out of warrenty. Since I contacted him during warrenty period, do you think Nissant will replace my part under the recall?

I haven't seen the official announcement yet, but they usually go by VIN; warranty status shouldn't be a factor. Your '09 should be covered.

The steering lock fault happened to me yesterday, got recovered to Nissan today and they reckon it will be about £1300 (yes £'s not $'s) to fit.

Came across this thread whilst crying over my breakfast and have logged a case with Nissan Uk to see if they will honour the recall as it appears Nissan USA are

Will keep you posted

ps - Hi to everyone, this my 1st (not including welcome message) post on the forum

Probably not as I did not on my other Z, since it was already replaced under warranty. This one came in for the red Z that has not failed yet.

Took my vert in for service with less then 10k on it on Wednesday, dealer went ahead replaced the lock while they had it there. Didn't receive any letter but they should have done so a few years back!

my fused was pulled (thanks for the info BTW) so I declined to have the fix when I took my car in for head gasket replacement today. think i'll call them and have it done after all.

my adviser said that Nissan would be reimbursing people who paid for this out of pocket and that they would have to fill out some form.

Had mine replaced 2 days ago under the recall and guess what, it failed tonight and I'm stranded!

Trying to search for quick fix solutions, going back to dealer tomorrow for another replacement and a fuse pull.

Only have had my Z 2 weeks ago and this is the first problem with the lock after a recall!

kenchan 03-27-2013 08:41 PM

Sorry to hear. Unless they completely disable the system it will most likely fail again.

Maybe your dealer replaced it with the one taken off from another recalled Z.
