DIY $15 Vinyl Carbon Fiber Fang + side Racing Stripes

So I went to Antozone to get some tools and saw some Vinyl CF wrap and Mustang racing stripes. They are pretty cheap so I decided to give it a try. the CF wrap is not long enough so I had to do it in separate pieces. it looks nice from far away and at night(because the detail really sucks). And I modified the Mustang racing stripe. I didn't have a very good cutting tool so the edges are not very straight. I mean, it only costed $15 (compare to $200 at a shop?? that's pretty good). And it was my very first time doing this. Next time will be better. =)

IMO take off the CF (the imperfections would kill me) but the stripe is kinda cool. Nice work.

nogoodname 10-11-2011 10:09 AM

Looks really bad lol.

cycy89 10-11-2011 10:56 AM

Haha.. thanks guys. That was just an experiment. I'll get more high quality CF wrap and try it again some time.

tonybui 10-11-2011 12:20 PM

OMG, take that **** off hahaha

Astrosfan 10-11-2011 12:49 PM

please take that off! please....please....please!!!...

Also, might want to consider getting rid of your license plate on the windsheild of you care for your passangers. I used to do that, got in a wreck and the plate would have decapitatied whoever was riding shotgun. just a suggestion.

:iagree:, but I'm not feeling it either.:shakes head: Nice effort trying something out though. Someone has to be the first to see of something will work. I would try the fang again with some 3M DiNoc and lose the stripe, the BS looks great in its naked form.:p

Also,as Astrosfan said on the license plate, get it out of the car. In an accident it can cause serious bodily damage. I used the no-holes bracket from gominigo.com, and love it.

ummmm...... good try, but it's kind of ghetto.

Just black out the fang with black paint, or even Plasti-Dip if you don't want something permanent. Evo-R CF cover is another option. Di-Noc has a better texture, but the results won't be that much better.

Also, racing stripes :roflpuke2: .... seriously, what are you a 12 year old? (J/K)

I'm ordering more 3M or 1080 CF vinyl and trying it again. I just want to do something unique because I'm tired of seeing same silver Z's on the street.. lol
Usually I don't carry passengers so the license isn't a big concern for me.

I was thinking of something to say that would remain constructive... All I could muster was:

I like the emblem if it covered the whole thing. I don't like the stripes but that was pretty creative! If those 2 pieces of wrap on the front weren't different shades that would have looked perfect, but for $15 at least you got to do a test wrap on the them. They're gonna turn out perfect once you get the new material.

Not to sound like a parent or anything:rolleyes:, but it is a sharp projectile to anyone in the vehicle. I've just been told this by many people.:tip hat:

And I finally DiNoc'd a few things last week, and the stuff is awesome! And quite forgiving and easy to use. Good luck:tup:

I like the stripe concept, but in th photo it looks a little high near the door handle - is it straight seen from the side?

The 3M DiNoc is great stuff, search for the threads on here.

Yes it is straight. I took the CF wrap off because it looked kinda bad. I'm getting DiNoc soon.
