anyone know how to take off just the front part of the brake calipers?

hey guys, i'm trying to get my brakes powdercoated, all i want to get painted in the half of the caliper that you can actually see. i have looked in the forums on how to do this and haven't found anything useful. any help would be appreciated!

yeah, the two halves are just bolted together. Fronts use 17mm bolt heads and rears use 14mm. There is a small O-ring between the halves that has to be reused when reassembling, and you should also loctite them when reassembling.

Personally, I coat both halves when doing a job, because it is more proper, imo, but sometime after the initial run of 09s, Nissan realized there was no need to paint the back halves and stopped doing it.

so is there an easy way to do this without having to take the entire caliper system apart? i am just trying to get that front cover off without a ton of other work if possible.

also, i talked to the badge guy you referred me to, and i now have 2 badges on the way, he does some amazing work

No, there is no front cover on the calipers, just two pieces bolted together.

Glad to Hear he could help you.

that's what i'm trying to do, is get the two pieces apart, but seeing if i can leave the inner piece on, all i want is the outside part to paint, while trying to do as little with the brakes as possible

no way you can do that. fluid will leak everywhere if you leave half on the car.
