I have all the bulbs ready (Photo Album). CINCity Designs has a set of 370Z headlights, and work is in progress. I got updated about superflux LEDs getting wired up, amber LED side marker swapped with white LED, etc. He wants to do something really cool with the turn signal housing, so it should add a unique look to my headlights. He'll sent me a teaser shot of the LED dimples, so I'll upload this photo tonight.

Just ordered a set from V-LEDS.com and for you guys that still haven't ordered a pair here's a Coupon Code I found ONLINE for 15% off : TOYOTANATION

Zeto 07-15-2009 01:25 AM

Thanks AK! I just ordered the LED bulbs for the license plate and the headlight side markers. If I have any questions I'll just drive down to Vineland :D

XtremeX 08-11-2009 11:38 AM

Do anyone know how this v-leds brand compare to the PIAA brand. Quality wise. Also does anybody know where I can get PIAA bulbs, if you can provide me with stock# and sites that would be great. Thank You in advance.

CrownR426 08-28-2009 07:27 PM

Did mine today and it looks much better!
Thanks ak

Step 2: Change them with the L.E.D. bulbs. I used the 5K L.E.D. from vleds. If they don't turn on after installing them, just switch their polarity.
uggh. They're sold out

dcrew1x 09-11-2009 05:35 PM

Finally got mine in :happydance:

Install was too easy; Thanks AK370 for the easy DIY :p

Looks so much better. Also ended up switching out the interior dome lights and parking lights.

JakeZ34 10-19-2009 04:12 AM

Thanks AK for the great DIY, IMO I have a brillian silver 370 and I feel like the front HID is white and the rear plate light is yellow makes it look sorta weird as well. So I ordered a pair of those bulbs and just waiting for them in the mail. Thanks for the write one and comparison once again.

I will. I am also going to order the parking/running lights for the headlamp assembly. I will post a review on the fitting and the brightness of course. What are the stock HID? I need to closely match the color. are they 4300K? 5300K?

SophiaZ 08-10-2010 09:46 PM

I'm lost! Trying to swap out the bulbs now but can't figure out how to take off the lense:confused:

You have managed to remove the tail light from the car right, and the trouble is just the lens?

Doesn't the bulb holder come out from the back of the light... not remove lens and remove bulb from the front..

I'm doing the same thing tomorrow when my LEDs arrive, but I believe the bulb come out the back..

I can't see the pics from my work PC, but I'm pretty sure thats the case.

EDIT.
Just checked pics on phone, just twist the bulb mount on the back of light.
Left loosey, righty tighty.. :tiphat:

Mr370z 08-12-2010 07:21 PM

hey guys whats the diff between a 5k light and 6k light? its going to tbe the colour/brightness correct?

So if we put the 6k temp for the parkers up front shouldn't we match it with the 6k at the back licence holder?

SophiaZ 08-12-2010 07:38 PM

I finally did the install :happydance: Took about 10 minutes..it took the most time trying to squeeze them clips.

You don't have to have the same output for two different areas IMO But I'd go with 5k since that is the closest stock look and it is a tad bluish. The 6k is brighter blue and from what I'm told..has less visiblity at night. The 6k is more for dress up than purpose. Just going from what I've been told ;)

Thanks for the pics.

Just in case anyone is wondering, there is a better option for those who want even brighter solution. I followed tbonesteak's sweet DIY to turn my license plate light into full SMD panel LED.

First of all, big thanks to Tbonesteak for his AWESOME DIY! Thanks  If it wasn't for this line, I don't think I would have the courage to push the housing hard the way I did.

Also, thanks to cliff from yourledshop for great price and quick shipping.

So, I finally finished all my led projects (at least I think). I already have the SMD LED in the trunk and I put the SMD in the license plate housing today. In the picture it may look too bright but since my paint (Monterey Blue) doesn't reflect light much (lets say compare to Pearl White), it's really not obnoxiously bright. It's just perfect IMO. I'm pretty happy with the install. It was a fun little project. Took me a little over 1 hour (wasted 10 minutes tried to bake the dam housing and that was FIAL :icon14:).

Here are some pictures:

sorry guys, I know it looks exactly like the BEFORE picture. That's because camera compensates for the extra light . There's nothing I can do

http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...D/DSC04136.jpg

If you own a darker color Z and you think your current leds aren't bright enough for your plates, here your solution.

It looks beautiful at night.

mdbrich 08-14-2010 12:32 PM

Bought a set of the LED bulb shaped ones. Did it in 2 mins, looks a lot cleaner then the previous bulbs color discharge.

Platinum10 08-14-2010 10:21 PM

VLEDS is a great website and they ship fast. This only took five minutes.

Not to be bringing back thread necromancy, but I've been working on lights and electrical for many years.

VLED.COM is great for the price with every other color. However, I also feel their whites are a little bit on the "cool" side.

http://www.superbrightleds.com

SuperbrightLEDs.com's "Natural White" is pretty much the whitest 5k you can get with much tint of blue. It's up to you to justify extra $5 if you want the purest white you could get.

What is the exact part # I would need for my license plate light from this site? Thanks in advance! :tiphat:

One of our member asked me to write a DIY for this. So here it is:

Time needed: 5 minutes
Tools needed: None.

Step 1: Locate your bulbs.

http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...h_DSC01483.jpg http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...h_DSC01487.jpg http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...h_DSC01489.jpg

OEM bulbs

OEM vs L.E.D.

L.E.D.s installed

http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...s-together.jpg

http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s.../installed.jpg

I hate the OEM yellowish look. These bulbs make the rear end look much better at night. These bulbs are slightly bluer than the headlights but they are almost identical. Light output is good. I just have to wait and see how long they last.

AK

Do these same lights work for the interior Map Lights?

happytheman 04-26-2011 03:30 PM

I'm also curious to know how the longevity of these bulbs has been considering it's been a bit of time now?

Noc 05-05-2011 10:06 PM

Quick question AK, i just installed the LEDs and they seem to be a lil more lose than the OEM bulbs. I am afraid that bumpy roads will cause it to fall out.

Did you have such problem?

EazyD 07-22-2011 10:49 AM

Mine came in today (used the link from AK's initial post)!

http://www.the370z.com/members/eazyd...-me-5-mins.jpg

Shouldn't take me long from what I'm reading... not even a screwdriver needed? Sweet.

EazyD 07-23-2011 11:50 AM

The job took 5 hours and 5 minutes.

5 minutes to switch the bulbs, 5 hours to wait until the sun set and I could drool at how much better it looks!

eastwest2300 07-26-2011 01:06 AM

Damn, those lights look good!!!

ODEHBOY 07-26-2011 11:26 AM

How long have these lasted you guys?

I have bad luck with LED's and they go out usually within a couple weeks.

ODEHBOY 07-26-2011 10:21 PM

also, does anyone have a coupon code? thanks

Strangler 07-28-2011 10:20 PM

How do you take those pictures at night? I tried about 20 shots at night and I just get blurry wiggly laser lines from light's reflection. Also, what kind of camera do you use? I was going get a picture of my car before I put in these new LED lights.
