DIY SIMOTA1 fuel gauge overlay....

Alright everyone... as promised... i am making this DIY to aid each and everyone of you in installing the overlays you have gotten from me  so here goes...

TOOLS NEEDED

Soap and water in spray bottle
Micro fiber cloth

YUP THATS IT!!! haha :happydance:

to make things a whole lot easier i made DIY videos... straight and uncut so everyone can see how easy it is to install these overlays and not mess up..

proof in the future that it will not leave any residue

Installation process

Finishing up

KEY NOTES: what not to do during the install... when spraying the soap and water DO NOT spray it directly at the gauge it self... this could cause something to short out or get grounded in the gauge... only spray the overlay and nothing else...

Other than that its a really easy install... takes about 5-10mins of your time... and it looks really nice after

Is there anything sticky on the back at all, or is it really just like those plastic stickers you can put on a window that stick by themselves?

simota1 10-23-2010 11:47 AM

it has its own adhesive... :D

Oh, if only I had seen the DIY videos before I did my install! I had the same issue with the "C" you showed in the video, Simota. I'll bet the soapy water trick would have worked to nudge the overlay a bit. No biggee, still looks great! Thanks for taking the time to do the videos! :tiphat:

I just took a fine tip sharpie and traced over the letters ,gas pump and temp symbols. This only gets sharpie on the overlay not the gauage, just incase you want to take it off at some point it will only be on the overlay.

Thanks for the tip kaien.I might try that.

tomnavone 03-01-2011 09:11 AM

Can't wait to get mine. Thanks sim for the videos.

KaienZ34 03-01-2011 09:16 AM

I had already done the sharpie thing in those pics.
