Request: Clutch Bleed DIY

My clutch was really acting up after several hot laps at the track last night. I need to flush the fluid with some hi-test stuff. Anyone seen a DIY for the Z?

Thanks

I need one too! Great suggestion...trackday coming up on Saturday. I'm pretty sure it's the same procedure as brake fluid, and the bleeder valve is just somewhere on the transmission tho...

Check the repair manual under general service for details but here is a few hints.

The bleed valve is attached to the transmission, you will see a small block with the incoming hard line and the lines going in to the CSC. It is on the drivers side on the bottom of the bell housing roughly in line with the back of the wheel. I jacked up the front of the car and used jack stands, don't go too high as it will be hard to fill check the reservoir. Connect a small plastic hose to a container. Have an 8mm (?) wrench available to open close the bleeder. Similar to the brakes crack the bleeder and have your partner slowly press down on the clutch pedal, try to close the bleeder just before the pedal hits the floor. It doesn't take much fluid to flush, it is a very short run. Check the reservoir every pump or 2 as the container is small on goes quickly.

Does any brake fluid work with the clutch as well? I'd like to do the alternating Super Blue and Motul to make visualization of a full flush easier. Clutches don't mind being blue, right?

They are fine with blue, I did the same thing. Yes, clutch fluid and brake fluid are the same thing.

High temp handling appears to be relatively important in our clutches as the fluid enters the tranmission and may get heated more than an external slave cylinder does.
