I just got my Z, but have a few questions

Hi there,

I am excited to be part of the group. What a cool car! …despite its shortcomings (has enough cargo room for one grocery bag, etc)

Anyway, I am looking to have a few things done to it, on the cheap. Wondering, if any of you could help me.

My navigation system doesn’t have my street, which tells me the maps are 5+ years old. How can I get an update for it?

All my touch-screens have some screen protector on it. Of course, I want to cover the navigation system, but I don’t have anything that large. Can someone recommend a touch-screen protector?

I want to tint my windows (I am in Woodbridge, VA). Anyone has a good estimate?

I am looking for a cheap bra to protect the front of the car from bugs, etc. I saw some on here that I really liked (transparent), but would cost over $1500. Is there anything in the $200 range?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Frank

The dealer will have updates when appropriate. But they are infrequent and expensive IIRC.

Not me

I want to tint my windows (I am in Woodbridge, VA). Anyone has a good estimate?

See this thread: http://www.the370z.com/exterior-inte...-tint-job.html

$200? :ugh2: Maybe you can get one of those vinyl bras for that

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Frank

welcome to the forum and congrats on the Z. Looks like most of your questions are answered, just check your dealership

Welcome!

Frank, welcome aboard and congratulations on your new purchase! You're gonna love it! To answer a few of your questions:

1. I don't have a navigation system so can't answer that one.
2. I went to Autospa on Golansky Blvd. You can google it. They do window tint and can also do Ventureshield installation. There are other places but I had mine done there just over a year ago.

Lastly, stop by and meet some other 370Z owners for coffee on Saturday morning in Fairfax at the Starbucks next to Kohls. http://www.the370z.com/mid-atlantic-...rday-10am.html

Good luck and hopefully we'll see you on a Saturday morning!

Hi Frank,
I got my Z a few weeks ago. I had the windows tinted 20% on all except windshield at 35% and a visor strip. I had the clear bra put on, bought the warranty, it cost me about 1500 for all. The thing you may run into with the clear bra is that there are different rankings on them and you can get a basic package or the entire package. The entire package included the headlights, the mirrors and part of the roof where the air dynamics are. I had this on my last Z and it was wonderful. I know you are looking for cheap but, not at the $200 range. D&L window tinting...... Whitemarsh Md. I know that is a drive for you, but, worth it. Wes is the owner. This is a 3M product. Good Luck on this venture.

The Nissan website points you to this link for Nav updates

NAVTEQ - Maps for your Nissan Navigation System

$129 for the activation code which the dealer uses to install the update -- for a fee of course

You should see if it takes you where you want to go before you pay for an update -- after all, you already know where your street is.

I wouldn't worry about a screen protector for the Nav. They seem like tough screens not a blemish on mine after 6 months.

Thanks Frost. Found a link for the Navigation update, its $129, plus dealer costs.

I'll hold off on the Bra; I barely started looking and much research is required, if I need to sink $1500, I want to make sure it will last, and there are no cheaper options I can live with.

Seems the Tint job will cost $200-$300. At that price range, I will try to get the best material, work quality I can get for the money.

Well, thanks again.

I truely feel welcome! Thank you all :) I am glad to be part of this elite group.

Also, thanks for the invites to the Z's and Coffee. I'll try to make it.

I got my clearbra and tint done at D&L in White Marsh. I can vouch for them.

Hey Frank,

Can't believe I missed this thread. Welcome to the boards and it was good to have you out at the meet on Saturday!

BTW for your screen, I would suggest ordering from Zagg Inc.

If you join their weekly iPad giveaway, they will email you a discount code for 30% - 50% off one order, so you should do that first.

They list an option for a Nissan Navigation, but no model specifics - I sent them an email query.

For your Navigation update, it looks like the update page doesn't provide the version being sold (!) or what has really changed, which is pretty sad.
