I was kind of thinking the same thing. I'm amazed how many folks at the Nissan dealership couldn't give me an answer.

Appreciate it!

Rob,

How did you get the Bose head unit in the Nismo? Did you order that from the factory that way? Buy it & install it after the fact? What about the speakers?

I thought (maybe I'm wrong) that the Nismo only came w/ the none-Bose stereo, thus no sub, etc.

Did you ever use USB connection? I do not have IPOD so I was wondering see if I could use USB connection with my Galaxy S phone.

Anything on USB? I am going to install this on Sunday. It will be great if I can use a USB drive.

My iSimple is still going strong. I guess I should update the guide to include the HD Radio adapter.

Hey Spartan.
I don't DIY so I had it put in at Best Buy. It works well. I noticed one slight issue. In order to choose an artist, I have to scroll through one by one. How did you handle this? Did you go back to I-tunes and use more stringent use of the genres? It's fine with Aerosmith or Acoustic Alchemy, Yes is a different story.

Anyway, thanks for the information on how to control the Ipod through the stereo.

Spartan 1771 07-11-2012 04:23 PM

Lonnie:

I agree it is a pain to scroll through long lists, but I have learned to live with it. There really is no way around it.

Jim:

I don't own a NISMO. I own a 2009 Touring with aero kit. I added an OEM NISMO cat-back exhaust system a few months after purchase. Maybe that's what your referring to?

Spartan 1771 07-11-2012 04:25 PM

I still haven't gotten around to adding the HD Radio adaptor. Although I have a garage, it isn't air conditioned, and the heat has been unbearable the last few weekends.

They keep telling me, "it should work..." It's a special order so they won't let you return it if it doesn't.

Description:
Fits this vehicle: 370Z (Z34)
2009+

To my knowledge, this will not work.

Thanks Spartan for your DIY! It was very helpful and just installed my kit tonight!

I do however have one issue and was wondering if anyone has come across an issue like this. The only option I have when scrolling via the 'Sat' button is 'Aux1'. I have lost my XM Radio function and I can't get 'IPOD' to show. Any ideas anyone?

Cheers guys. I have a 2010 370z 40th Ed, if that makes a difference.
Also, thanks again Spartan!

I've had issues once in a while (maybe once or twice a month) where when i start the car, my stereo does not recognize the Media Gateway. Only way I've found to fix that is to turn the car off and back on. That doesn't sound exactly like your problem dstyle.... but thought i'd share just in case it is somewhat similar to your problem.

Good Luck.

dstyle 07-31-2012 12:50 AM

Thanks Adam for the tip but I've found the problem. It was me... I had the switches on the unit the other way round! :icon08: .

Sorry guys! Works perfectly now!

On occasion, I have the same issue. Really bizarre. I can't figure out why it happens.

Am I missing where the HD radio DIY instructions link is?

diddy535 11-03-2012 03:42 PM

Hey everyone,
Did someone with an iPhone 5 trying using an adaptor to this to see if it works?

Just curious, thanks!

ElVee 04-18-2013 09:52 PM

Just curious, has anyone used this DIY and part lately on something like a 2012/2013 370z?

Red_Z 04-23-2013 09:04 PM

I have a 12. Nothing changed.

ElVee 04-27-2013 06:59 PM

I got the parts and installed it all, but it's only partially functional. I have a 2013 touring w/o NAV.

- I press FM/Radio, then Sat and quickly SEEK up and I only see Aux1
- My iPod sound comes through just fine, but the display shows XM instead of Ipod.
- I can skip back and forth through songs using TUNE up/down, but no other controls work
- I can still control my ipod via the ipod click wheel
- Steering wheel control just changes through XM presets 1-6

But nothing else appears to work as it sounds like it should. I've switched from AUX1 to AUX2, and basically all the above happens again, only with Aux2.

Red_Z 04-29-2013 10:11 AM

Do you see "iPod" option when you change channel? I can see song name or other info when I m at "iPod". Sometimes mine does the xm channel thing too, but it will fixes itself after I restart the car.

ElVee 04-29-2013 11:11 AM

Nope, I haven't seen "ipod" come up on the display at all. I'll play around with it some more, and even open it back up next weekend.

This here my friends is what we call the very first 370Z hacker :) ...Good write up!

Any write ups on how to hack the ECU for more HP?

Spartan 1771 06-01-2013 05:45 PM

There are a lot of other threads that have to do with the ECU and programming. I looked in to doing that sometime ago, but at the time it hadn't been cracked yet. But like I said, that was a few years ago. Maybe someone has figured something out by now?

I actually never got around to installing the HD radio adapter. When I did the initial install I realized I was missing an antenna extension cable. I did get the cable, but lost interest in having HD radio, so I never bothered with it. Sorry.

Hey Red,
I read your DIY and could swear you were talking about me concerning having wires all over the place. Drive me nuts! I have done similar mods to both my G35 (replaced with my 2011 z sport touring) as well as my Honda element. I bought a cheap blue tooth receiver to plug into the 3.5 mm jack on the dash and have yet to receive it. I suspect it will not meet my needs completely to use with my iphone 5. I suspect I will go the route you went soon. Another desire I have is to have a mount, perhaps attached near drivers or passenger knee, which would allow the pone to be slipped in one handed. I really don't like having to attach the phone then mounting it. I hope that makes sense. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Chris

Step 2: Unscrew the shift knob. This will allow you to remove the trim ring and boot. If your not comfortable removing it, you can work around it. If you remove the surround completely, re-install the shift knob, or cover the bare shift handle with a cloth. This will prevent it from scratching the face of the stereo once it’s pulled forward.
http://www.the370z.com/members/spart...364-step-2.jpg

Step 32: Since you disconnected the airbag light on the right side of the stereo, you will have to rest it, or your airbag light will flash, which is REALLY annoying. Here is how to reset it:
If you have the airbag light blinking here is how to reset it:
1. Push the start button two times (Ignition on but engine not started).
2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a few seconds. As soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the key off QUICKLY.
3. Count to 5
4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times.
5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. You can let this run for a few seconds.
6. Now turn the key off again, Count to 5 again and turn back on. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing.

I would like to change/add to these. If you mask the area around the outside of the shiftier ring you do not have to try and remove the shiftier knob. I have never taken one off because of how much of a pain they are.

Also if you reattach the air bag light BEFORE connecting the negative batter terminal either by taking the light out the trim piece and plugging it in or putting the whole piece back the airbag reset can be avoided. A lot easier to take a few seconds and reconnect that than having to reset the whole system.
