Passenger Window Auto-Up

Has anyone posted before on how to enable Auto-up for the passenger window?

gomer_110 03-23-2019 03:06 PM

You can do a search on here for the window reset procedure or find a copy of the FSM and find it there. It's been covered numerous times in other threads.

You totally misunderstand, I don't want a window reset (I know that one) I wanted to know if anyone knows how to enable auto closing of the passenger window using either the driver door switch or the passenger door switch.

gomer_110 03-23-2019 05:11 PM

No, I understood correctly. Regardless of which window, if it isn't doing the auto-close, it needs the reset procedure done.

StormWhite 03-23-2019 05:43 PM

You still misunderstand, if the driver or passenger lower the passenger window it WONT auto shut using the window switch on either the driver switch or the passenger switch.

Sorry can't be any more simplistic that.:ugh2::ugh2:

Its got SFA to do with the reset procedure its about closing the passenger window using the switches in the doors.

If you sit in the driver seat and close the drivers window by lifting the door switch it has TWO positions MANUAL UP and a second position AUTO UP. If the driver lifts the passenger window switch (On the drivers door) it only has ONE postion MANUAL UP.

The same with the passengers window switch it has only ONE position MANUAL UP and NO AUTO UP.

I am asking if there is a posted remedy for this.

So to be clear, for troubleshooting, you've tried the window reset procedure?

gomer_110 03-23-2019 08:13 PM

DO THE WINDOW RESET PROCEDURE.

I understand exactly what you are saying. The "problem" you are describing is exactly how the window will behave when you need to do the window reset procedure, which as memory serves must be done using the window switch on the side the window is on.

ROFLMAO

OP, gomer_110 may not be right but the reset procedure takes less than 30 seconds. Give it a try and see if it works. Going by what I've seen of gomer_110 on this site, I'd be willing to bet a dollar he's right.

I am guessing its my use of the term "Auto Up" or perhaps you guys never physically open the car windows.

I am not referring to the auto up when you close the door but instead the act of closing the window when you are sat in your seat with the door shut.

The drivers side door card has two window switches. If you push the switch all the way down on the drivers side switch the window automatically goes all the way down even if you take your finger off the switch. When you raise the switch it closes the window - First position allows you to halt the closing but if you lift it up to the second position it automatically closes all the way up This is what I mean by "Auto Up".

However if you do the same with the drivers side passenger window switch you will find that it does not have a second position for automatically closing the window. You physically have to wait until the window has closed before you can release the switch.

This lack of of auto closing is also apparent on the passenger door card window switch. You have to wait until the window is fully closed before you can release the switch.

So in essence this is not about resetting the windows its all about removing the physical resriction on both passenger window switches that physically prevents the switch going to the second auto closing position.

I asked if anyone has ever posted a solution because the answer is so simple and requires only 10 minutes and a modelling knife.

Why are you too stubborn to even try the reset procedure? Maybe that's not your problem but it is a common problem, takes just a few seconds to fix, and requires zero tools.

I am not stubborn I know how to reset the windows and I can assure you this is not the issue.

Please read my last post then click on the link.

Its all about physically removing some plastic lugs from the actual switches that prevent the switches reaching the auto closing position for the passenger side window.

I am trying to enrich your lives by showing you a simple free mod that I am surprised I have never read about before, hence my original question.

However, if I hear any more about "window reset procedure" I will just give up.

Hey South, I think I understand his question. I think hes referring to the physical window switch not having that second, auto up...instead just having one position. Ill have to check my Z and confirm this.

You got it. :tiphat:

Follow the link for pictures on how to resolve this, assuming USA Zeds have the same switches.
