Anyone done a DIY metal under-tray?

I know companies make aluminum splash under-tray. But don’t really feel like dishing out $200-300 + on something no one will ever see, will most likely get ruined quickly and that I’m very confident I could make myself.

Has anyone cut out and drilled bolt holes in a sheet of aluminum/ light thin metal from say Lowe’s / Home Depot & made a DIY splash under-tray shroud?

Pretty sure you're not finding a sheet of aluminum large enough for an undertray at HD or Lowes. A sheet of aluminum large enough for an undertray is probably going to cost you atleast $100-$150. Once you factor in you time and the tools needed for sheet metal fabrication you're easily into the cost of the Z Speed undertray.

Do yourself a favor, buy the Z Speed undertray and save yourself the frustration of trying to make a quality one yourself.

Also notice how it isn't flat & has openings for sway bars & venting,,,,i was going to eventually make something-but lost my ride.

Thanks guys. I have friends who do metal work and fab work! Was going to make a project out of it. But I didn’t realize how cheap the Z speed was sub $200 not bad at all. I always saw them for $200-300 + but anyways ok sounds like they’re a lot more affordable than I thought.

Also my car didn’t come with an under-tray. But the car NEVER gets driven in heavy rain or in anything. Honestly it’s more or less the dust that blows under my car and gets my engine bay all dusty, especially now in the south with the wind and pollen! I don’t really have any other issues! :(

I gotta get me one of these under trays asap. Thanks for the reminder.

The undertray is not just for keeping the elements out of the engine bay - it is also for aerodynamics and proper flow of air through the bay.

It also adds rigidity to the bottom of the front bumper cover. I would get one ASAP.

TBW is under $200 as well. It's a 2 piece with a replaceable front section
