Home Garage Lifting Options - My Lift Stand
 

Was looking for something to make it where I feel safer under my Z when installing all the exhaust components I am purchasing. Found a lot of of options, all with pros and con. The most affordable I found was "My Lift Stand." Basically, metal wheel cribs that you can put a jack under and go higher with. They currently have a 3 week lead time. The price is not advertised so I assume it could change. I paid 275 for each pair and about 130 in shipping.

I was really close to getting the Quickjack 3500 and may end up with one still at some point. The advantages of the my lift stand for me were: Side entry/exit, can be used with any of our vehicles, stack-able and makes like a little table when not in use, price, wife really likes the wheels in contact with something if I am underneath it. I also think the my lift stands would last most a lifetime vs a hydraulic based system but I have nothing to base that on.

Of course the downsides are, can't just jack it up with a button and do all the wheels/brakes/suspension and the Quickjack 3500 is not much more money. It was almost a coin toss of QL convenience vs the items I mentioned. Its really cool as well.

Also looked at the Kwiklift. It was just way too much for me to justify with all the options. The base un-powdercoated one I was going to have to paint was $1400 shipped. I do like the ramp idea though. If cost were not a factor I probably would have gone with this. They have a metal bridge you can purchase that makes wheel/suspension work possible while on the ramps with the use of jack stands.

Of course there are 2 post lifts and other "portables" but freight, weight, and space were all issues for me. Would be great if I had the space/need.

That all being said, I have jack stands, rhino ramps, etc. They are probably just fine for most people. This was a personal preference after being under a lot of cars and not feeling great about it.

I will report back with some pictures and review of how they do.

Thanks for the report. I will be looking at lift options in the future as well. This certainly will be a runner up.

I'm starting to shop around for a small lift for me. Moving to new house mid May but the garage ceiling is only 8Ft high. So far I'm tossing around between the MaxJax Portable Car Lift - Home Garage Lift - Dannmar - MaxJax USA and EZ CAR LIFT - FREE-STANDING USE-ANYWHERE CAR LIFT! FAST. SAFE. STRONG.EASY. both have pros and cons . With the Maxjax it's biggest drawback is the required storage of the units when not in use. I can live with lower lifting height of the ezcarlift

Yeah, that EZ Car Lift looks cool. The price was a deal breaker for me on that one. Let me know what you get and how it works out.

all of those options posted are great options. I'm in the garage car lift club. I will never go back if I could afford it! I looked into all of those except the lift stand during my lift browsing. I got lucky and found a scissor lift for dirt cheap and bought it. It really changed my wrenching life! It just make thing so much easier and safer! I probably would of gotten the Quickjack by Ranger/bendpak if I didn't stumble apon my lift. It's small, easy to set up, convenient with it's mobility and not priced too bad. My first choice would of been a 2 post of some kind like the Maxjack. It would be very awesome to be able to sit on a stool and wrench. Sure those other options are better than a floor jack and jack stands, but you still have to be on your back when you wrench! That sucks! If I had the ceiling height, I might of gotten the Maxjack.

PS. Tbatt has the Quickjack by Ranger. He had a few nice pics. It's pretty nifty!

Ok, lifts finally showed up. I am impressed with the quality of them. Great amount of lift and looks safe. That being said, it was pain to get the car up high enough to get them under it. Granted, this was my first time lifting the Z and my floor jack is pretty tiny. I am going to upgrade to a floor jack with some more travel and that will make it way easier to use. I think with the lift stands and my regular jack stands for suspension/brake work I am good to go. Big plus for me is they are actually pretty compact for what they do and stack nicely.

Ohh yes, that definitely looks safe! I dint think I would like having to go and jack the car up to put it under the car and again jacking the car up to take them out. However, it sure looks safe!

Now your car looks like a trophy in the garage. I also bet your neighbors think you are scared of floods. Lol!

Still loving my QuickJack 3500. Takes up almost no storage space. The lifts are leaned against the wall and the pump & hose box keeps them from sliding out. The lifts have wheels on them so you don't have to carry them. Money well invested.

These stands do look very secure.

I have the Maxjax, I bought it from home depot with free delivery and 2 years to pay interest free. (paid $1900.00) I have 8 foot ceilings in my garage and have no problem lifting the nismo all the way to the top of the jack without hitting the ceiling. 4 foot under the car makes it nice. I have mine permanently bolted to the floor and I can park in between them without banging the drivers door getting in and out. the passenger door is to tight to open without banging it, so no passenger entry or exit in the garage. i also mounted the pump and hoses permanently so i just center up and swing the arms under and lift.

Received my lift last week, have not had a chance to use it but have to do a complete fluid change on the car soon

Changed tranny and rear diff lube. Love the new tool

^^Was it really worth two gran? Seems like a lot to pay when jackstands and a floorjack can do a relatively good job too. How did you justify this to yourself?

It is so worth it. I kick myself for not buying a lift a decade ago.
