Nice write up! Question about the quantity of oil used though, I recently installed a 25-row cooler from Z1 (mounted it with fittings facing up) and needed only 6.5qt to have it full. This is with the slightly longer lines too as it is mounted on the drivers side. How did you end up using 7.5qt's? In Modshack's DIY, he mentioned it was just over 6qt for a full fill and he used the 24 row cooler. Just wanna make sure I used enough oil. Seemed to run fine and dipstick read F if not slightly above everytime I checked it throughout the week.

Funny cause I used 6 qt on a 25 row and I am just about full... reads about half way (have heard you don't want it by the top line).

You should be fine. I use about 6 qt for my 19 row cooler. There isn't a ton of oil volume difference between a 19 and 25 row cooler...so 6.5 qts sounds good. So long as the car is level and you turn the engine on to let the oil run through the system and then shut it off before checking the dipstick, you should be fine. :tup:

Yep, I did the exact same thing...

Something tells me the 25R might be a bit too tall to install on the driver side, but...who knows. Maybe I'll get them to swap sides and find out.

I think I read in another thread (Modshack's or Vipor's??), because of the added height of the 25 row, you may have to flip it around so that the fittings are facing down, or you may just not be able to push it as far left (towards the driver's side) as you like.

Ick, no thanks on flipping it upside down. I dont like the idea of the dipstick mis-reading potentially :-/

Hi guys! I'm trying to install my stillen 24 row oil cooler on driver side like nismo kit. I don't like the idea to move the power steering cooler. Or as long as I can avoid to touch or to move the oem parts or set up. i will!! Planning to finish it up by Tom and will post some pictures for u guys! Hope will fit perfectly. :happydance:

Does anyone know if changes to the bracket have been made so that you don't have to hack at it and are the instructions any better for the install?.

I am REAAALLLLYYYY torn between going Stillen and Mishimoto (have Stillen CAI and will be going Stillen CBE). So many people have had issues with the install and it seems like Mishimoto has taken the time to create a model specific Oil Cooler with the DIY installer in mind. The downside, people have said that the M oil cooler has had fails (but that was a few years ago).

Anyone have any new thoughts, opinions or input? Want to go 25 row with Thermo plate (VA winters are a B)

I'm fairly sure the directions have changed since I did this (it HAS been years, after all...). That being said, I've done several oil cooler installs. Z1 Motorsports install I prefer, as the oil line routing is superior, and you dont need to relocate your power steering cooler. That being said, I'd bet that Stillen has altered their kit so that you dont need to do that with theirs, either (its kinda pointless to require that as is...longer lines fixes everything).

So, anyway, point is: go with the Z1 Motorsports kit, as it's a sure bet.

Did you ever make a decision on which cooler to go with? I just picked up the Stillen 25 row w/ thermo plate and was planning on installing it this coming weekend. Just wanted to get your opinion. :driving:
